Bruno Canino, piano

Eugène Ysaÿe’s luminous personality, made of generosity and toughness, casting an open mind on the arts and the world, has become a living legend. Nowadays, his name is mainly linked to the six sonatas for violin he composed in 1924, in the winter of his life. Actually, Ysaÿe started to compose when he was 12, first small pieces, then pieces of style and virtuosity. At age 18 he wrote the ‘Saltarelle Carnavalesque’ which shows his technical facility, acquired from his masters Vieuxtemps and Wieniawski. Wieniawski, who also inspired his mazurkas, composed with a remarkable unity of thought and style. His many impressionist and symbolist friends and contemporaries gave Ysaÿe the taste for his multiple arrangements. Sandrine Cantoreggi plays as soloist with orchestras as welll as in recitals and in chamber music groups. Well known conductors and talented musicians have accompanied her in her musical universe which extends to all periods.
