Kudos for our 33 1/3 version: "We compared this new 180-gram, 33 RPM LP from Analogue Productions with the original RCA Living Stereo issue and Classic Records' 33 RPM version, and were surprised at the outcome. Why? Because to these ears, the new Analogue Productions version was the more relaxed and natural sounding of the bunch. The sound is as it should be, inviting the listener into the music and entirely constant with Reiner's readings. ... If ever there were a must-have LP in the recent wave of audiophile vinyl reincarnations, this is it. Treat yourself and thank (Analogue Productions' Chad) Kassem for doing it the justice it deserves." — Harry Pearson, HP Soundings, May 2013. The jewel in the Living Stereo crown. Enchantment awaits within! Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony convey the listener on a magic carpet of Living Stereo sound to mythic Arabia and China, guided by two of Russia's greatest orchestral masters.

This, like the Respighi, is considered one of the very best recordings by Reiner, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and RCA's crew. A disc of supple and sensuous performances, the sound alternately shimmers and stuns with the clarity of its definition and intensity of its climaxes.

Amazing detail, noisy vinyl

My particular pressing sounds wonderfully detailed and dynamic but the vinyl has quite a lot of background noise - perhaps the noisiest analog productions record I’ve purchased - most are incredible. I’ve heard much about the amazing sonics on this album and they are great. The surface noise of the discs is bad. I even cleaned them both and they remain noisy. Sides 3/4 are worse than 1/2. Both discs have no visible scratches. I so wanted to give this album 5 stars.

Yeah...I own the 33rpm too, and have no regrets buying this

How many copies of a single recording is too many? Like so many others, I've been enchanted by this work and this performance for a long time. Long enough to have purchased my fair share of formats of this exact recording. Over the years, to date, I've purchased the following versions of this recording: 1) JVC XRCD2, 2) Analogue Productions SACD, 3) Chesky 33rpm, 4) Analogue Productions 33rpm, 5) the Analogue Productions 45rpm reviewed here.

I'll save you some reading and just summarize here: This is the clearest, most dynamic, and most "present" version of this recording I've yet heard. Granted, I haven't heard the 1/4" reel to reel nor an original shaded dog. But I REALLY struggle to imagine a better sounding version than this will ever be pressed on vinyl again.

So do I have any regrets buying this as my 5th version of the same recording? Not in the least!
