Time Out helped launch a series of Time records, which, for awhile, became a minor fad in jazz, and had a number of musicians, mainly drummers, demonstrating adroitly time signatures. Not surprisingly, the record that ignited the fad, Time Out, was one of the most successful. Its program features six solid Dave Brubeck originals and the classic Paul Desmond original, "Take Five". If you love Brubeck-Desmond-Morello and Wright issue, you'll appreciate hearing this version.
1.   Blue Rondo A La Turk
2.   Strange Meadow Lark
3.   Take Five
4.   Three To Get Ready
5.   Kathy's Waltz
6.   Everybody's Jumpin'
7.   Pick Up Sticks

the instruments actually sound true to life. when the drummer does his little solo, you'd swear u were in some jazz club, front row.

I have the CD copy of this album and it is excellent. Recently I purchased the Classic Records pressing of the same album and it blows away the CD. If you want to close your eyes and have a jazz quartet in your listening room, this is an album for you. Also an excellent demo record. The drums are right there. You can see the sticks hit the skin and the snare buzz in your minds eye. The image is very clean and you can almost watch the sticks move through space.

The packaging is perfect! Very nicely done. Heavy materials, clean, crisp. Everything that makes a record a pleasure to handle is done well here.

The music is first rate. This is not a 4/4 time album, these are difficult time signatures to handle and they are handled with aplomb. The music is compelling and listening to it at this sonic level keeps my attention on the music. Dave Brubeck is very famous for a very good reason!

If this level of quality was commonplace, the world would be a different place.

I've never heard this album so clear, quiet, and detailed (Rega+Dynavector, Naim, Dynaudio system). Fantastic. Worth the extra cost.

My jazz heritage has been mostly "Smooth Jazz" rather than this "Classic" Jazz. This album made a believer out of me! Once I read the cover notes and understood what was happening with the timing change variety it really wowed me. Excellent in every detail; Musicality, recording quality, detail, pure enjoyment overall is this one! Highly recommend this classic! Okay got to stop writing now; going to listen to the album again before bed!

You won't feel very bad about not ponying up for the 45rpm with this in your collection.

My original pressing (which I purchased secondhand a number of years past) was finally showing it's age and was not mint to begin with. I picked this up and personally I've been very satisfied with this issue. The sonics are solid and clear, the vinyl quality itself on my copy is very high and this record absolutely sings on my turntable. A must own for jazz lovers.

I own an original Columbia 6-eyed copy of Time Out and this pressing is vastly superior. The bass is tight and powerful and the drums explode from the speakers. Brubecks piano sounds like it is sitting in front of you and Desmond's sax never sounded so sweet and smooth.

This is one of the first Jazz LPs I listened to more than 20 years ago. It was a pressing that my Dad listened to back in the 60's and believe it or not, it was in great shape and sounded excellent. Yeah, a little noise here and there, but the sonics came through loud and clear. A "cleaner" CD version years later left me a little cold. But this new 150 gram version- Whoa Daddy-O! Crazy good! Layers of sound, piano decay and drum nuance that were only hinted at before shine through like the recording was made yesterday (in the best sense of the word). A classic album made even better by a lovingly mastered and pressed production. If you like this album at all you NEED this version!

Great sound, classic album, great jazz. Just repurchased vinyl after years of listening to CD. Warmth is impressive.
