Telarc celebrates Jacques Loussier’s 70th birthday with a stellar collection The Best Play Bach. 2004 is also the 45th Anniversary of the first live Jacques Loussier Trio performance as well as the 20th Anniversary of the re-formed Jacques Loussier Trio. In 1959, Loussier hit upon the idea that was to make his international reputation, combining his interest in jazz with his love of J.S. Bach. Only a pianist with such an exceptional classical technique and deft improvisatory skill could have nurtured such a vision. He founded the Play Bach Trio, which used Bach’s compositions as the basis for jazz improvisation.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the better recordings (or at least it sounds great on my system) out there. The fusion of classical and jazz really worked wonderfully. It's a must have sacd for any jazz or classical listener.
