For those of you that haven't experienced early Bob Dylan in glorious mono sound you're in for a mind-boggling experience. "Mono," you say. "That can't be good." For this music, it's the only way to hear it properly. The first few Dylan LPs were essentially solo, that is guitar, vocals and harmonica. On the stereo mixes, Bob¹s vocal is in the middle, guitar left or right and harmonica on the other channel; very strange and quite unatural. Sundazed puts it all in the center and the resulting immediacy puts Dylan right in your listening room. Highly Recommended.

The (Half) Forgotten Bob

Apart from My Back Pages and the two love songs, this is one of the more disregarded albums by Dylan. It shouldn't be that way! Chimes of Freedom, to take one example,is one of his truly great songs - and I write as someone who bought the ORIGINAL mono LP when it appeared (and someone who did NOT desert him when he went electric!). It deserves a much more prominent place in the discography, and always has - having been from the first overshadowed by Bringin' It All Back Home and what followed.

On the other hand, HE doesn't perform many of its songs, either, so even the artist doesn't necessarily know which of his works connects most profoundly!

BUY IT IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT, OR LIKE ME, LENT IT AND NEVER GOT THE VINYL BACK!
