Throughout the course of his career, James Taylor has sold more than 40 million albums, and won more than 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards as well as five Grammy Awards. Taylor's first Greatest Hits album earned him the RIAA's elite Diamond Award, given for sales in excess of 10 million units in the United States. In 2000, Taylor was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In February 2006, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences named Taylor its MUSICARES Person of the Year.

A generation of girls grew up wanting to be with James Taylor. A generation of guys grew up wanting to be James Taylor. But this reissued LP from Rhino will have to do. His eighth album, originally released on November 1, 1976. To this day, it is the best-selling album of Taylor's career. And it's now back on vinyl. Includes "You've Got a Friend," "Fire and Rain," "How Sweet it Is," "Mexico" and much more.

Great songs, good pressing

The challenge with almost any "greatest hits" record is the unfortunate fact it is very unlikely it has been mastered from the original source tapes. It's not like Warner's cut up and spliced these hits from all the album masters to do this record...no they would use copies. So it's at least a generation away from the sound you want. But this is such a great collection of hits, it's easy to overlook that, and enjoy the music. My copy plays with a minimum of clicks or pops, and is reasonably flat, although not as good as the other JT records pressed at RTI in the Rhino reissue series. Four Stars, great value. Don't miss picking up Sweet Baby James and Mudslide Slim if you can find them.
