The sonic equivalent of an engaging journey down the Nile River, Spiritchaser is Dead Can Dance's unforgettable swan song. The percussive-based 1996 set find the world-fusion group fashioning thematic songs around rhythmic structures and tribal beats, creating atmospheric soundscapes that take the listener through Africa, South America, England and Europe - sometimes within the same movement. Blurring the lines between styles and genres so that they become irrelevant, Dead Can Dance members Lisa Gerrard and Gerald Perry generate the illusion of being lost amidst a peaceful rain forest that's yet to be discovered by man. Spiritchaser is the sound of a lost culture, where ethereal singing, overlapping harmonies and trance-like tempos serve to calm, relax and enchant. Gerrard's phonetic singing - often taking the form of prayer - is grand albeit understated, as much spiritual as it is natural. Just like the music itself.

WOW! This record completely blew my mind in all aspects! Stunning sound and music! And this is the Mo-Fi "budget" label pressing? Sounds more like an authentic Original Master Recording to me. Great dynamics, bass and staging. You wanna spin this baby at 2 in the morning after many shots of your favorite bevvy coupled with Mother Nature's greenest! AWESOME!!

Amazing Recording

I had this on CD when it first came out and am thrilled to finally have it on vinyl. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab does vinyl right. Thanks for bringing this sound to full life! Please consider putting out the rest of DCD on vinyl.

MFSL - "Silver Series" DCD Review

The new 120-gram "Silver Series" by MF is as dead quiet and impressive as their other 180-gram vinyl reissues. Why can't/won't everybody release albums that sound this good? The music on "Spiritchaser" is entrancing, haunting, and impeccibly performed, recorded, and remastered - all standard for MFSL. Deep black backgrounds and pristine sonics from the deepest bass (and I mean deep) to the shimmering percussion and the cristal-clear highs; this recording is astonding in every way. Bravo!

Of the highest quality

The music is incredible, but the pressing is even better. The track lead-in, lead-out, and quiet parts are as quiet and black as I have heard. The sound comes from nowhere/everywhere.
