"…Shelby's warm, southern voice wraps itself around the songs in knowing appreciation, and their timeless quality is there for all to hear. They haven't been done like this before though; the pace is mellow, the playing perfectly captures the mood and the recording – devoid of Pro-tools and overdub interference – is spacious, and draped in a rich, honeyed sound…this really is something special." Recording = 9/10; Music = 9/10 – Andrew Hobbs, Hi-Fi+, Issue 58

"Shelby Lynne…doesn't just take on Springfield classics like 'Breakfast in Bed' or 'The Look Of Love.' Lynne goes one better, making the songs her own with clever phrasing and steamy tempos…Sonics are warm, wide, and rich in detail and transparency. At just under 40 minutes it's the perfect analog running time." Music = 4/5; Sonics = 4.5/5 – Neil Gader, The Absolute Sound, March 2008

"…The spare arrangements, made up mostly of backing guitar, keyboards and drums, put the focus – as it was on Springfield's records – on the voice, which sounds spectacular, multi-dimensional, and present enough to touch." Stereophile Recording of the Month, March 2008 – Robert Baird, Stereophile, March 2008

Just A Little Lovin' is Shelby Lynne's personal tribute to Dusty Springfield. Produced by Phil Ramone and recorded at Capitol Studio A, this beautiful and meaningful interpretation of Springfield's songbook was cut to tape with zero frills. It's the real deal.

"Dusty Springfield was a soulful singer. You can't ever fill her shoes. So I just set out to sing songs we all want to hear again. The road map I followed when cutting these was the one she made years ago. It was easy. I just sang and let the songs do the work. I'm so glad I did. Dusty inspired it all." – Shelby Lynne

She is amazing & so is this Lp! Any real vinyl fan must add this one to their collection. We listen to this one a lot during dinner and close friend cocktail parties. She sounds like she is in the next room. Buy It, Top Sound, A+!

Overall this is a very nice lp..Great songs, great arrangements, instrumentation, and vocals...One small problem; on at least 3 of the tracks Shelbys vocals clip and are distorted. Mildly annoying especially on a high end vinyl setup. We all expect better than that, especially since they almost got it right..almost.

This is a great laid back easy listening album. The recording quality is very good, crystal clear, kick back and turn it up. Shelby has a lovely quality about her voice and the band blend so well together, an excellent band. I'm glad I made this purchase.

What a good recording is all about!

Thoroughly enjoy this recording. Simply recording technique with a "live" effect....you feel like you are in the studio with her. Awesome music as well.

I, like others, bought this mainly because of the favorable press it got for sound quality. And it's waay up there. It's a great, revealing LP. So much so, I have a hard time faulting the LP, I'm blaming the recording for the slight flaws I do hear. On a few tracks, for instance, Shelby sounds slightly veiled. I don't think it's the LP, but the choice of microphone or the processing of. There are a couple hot spots that saturate the LP and make her voice a little harsh on the loudest peaks, but overall, this is a fantastic album music wise - that is way up there is sound quality too, with just a few quirks. Still, highly recommended.

Extremely Disappointed - Terrible Sound Quality

I read the rave audiophile review regarding this recording and immediately bought the LP. I Received the LP, played it and thought it sounded terrible. Then, I rechecked the review and it was based on the CD, not the LP. I found out later, in another review/article, that many shortcuts were used during the production of the LP. Too bad because this could be a gem due to the great voice of Shelby Lynne and the music arrangement of the songs. Shame on the production company! I feel cheated on this product. I would not recommend this further.

Great tribute with eligantly simple arrangements

I'd never heard Shelby Lynne before and was pleasantly surprise by her somewhat dark and husky voice. The arrangements here are really sparse and allow her voice to shine. All the Dusty Springfield are classics, but all the arrangements here are fresh and modern.

My pressing is excellent, the equal to many "audiophile" LPs. This is a very nice LP in every respect.

Very Pleasant

I think the recording is excellent and it is a very pleasant listen. I do not understand why the guitar is more highly favored by the engineer/mixer than the keyboard. The keyboard sounds like it is over in the corner somewhere. I have the 45 rpm of Dusty which is stunning, but the rhythm section and production here are much better. Shelby is a good singer in the American standard. While she sings with emotion and feeling, she could become a better vocalist. i certainly prefer her to Nora Jones, but Record of the Month makes me think Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald or Jennifer Warnes. Not there.

This record is amazing. The production, the song selection, the performance, the sound, are outstanding.

I have in excess of 3000 records and this is arguably one of the very best.

So close and yet so far. The music is so well recorded but the amount of noise in the right channel is totally unaceptable. From posts I've seen elsewhere, I'm not alone. Such a shame and almost an incredible deal at a hair over twelve bucks!!!!!
