Strange mastering, exaggerated low end. Seems that's the only reason for 2 LPs. Needed wide cutting pitch to make room for low frequency information. Material was OK. Raconteurs is much better in my opinion. Not a bad record, but would be worth it if it were priced less.

Quiet vinyl. Not sure where the fault lies (not my equipment), but I was getting inner groove distortion by the halfway point, which is very unusual. Occurred on my AT-cut DSoTM remaster as well. Not my favourite album by the 'stripes, but only one of two white stripes albums confirmed to be cut from analog.

Not a fan so I can't give much of a review. Sound quality was not as good as I expected. Seemed like too much processing.

Yes, this is another phenomenal White Stripes album, continuing the tradition of great songwriting yet breaking new ground. It's far more "produced" than Elephant, yet wildly entertaining in its own right.

One thing other reviewers have not mentioned is the intense, subterranean whump of Meg's kick drum. If you have a subwoofer, you will see cone excursions that rival the invasion of Zion in the Matrix Revolutions. Definitely an album one can enjoy viscerally. The crystal-clear vocals help balance everything out.

This is truly a must have for any White Stripes, or even rock music fan. It absolutely blows away the CD and is everything and more you expect from a well-crafted vinyl release.

I don't have the redbook to compare it to, but Icky Thump certainly has that Hoffman/Gray touch, meaning the sonics are outstanding. The album is solid, but still lacks the hunger and intensity that made me fall in love with the White Stripes on "Elephant". Still, it is a very good album that is getting lots of spins this summer, and I'm sure it will beyond the season!

As an old rocker of 60's and 70's folk, blues, and progressive rock, I was inspired by this original and well crafted LP. The album is complete through and through: from cover art to the eclectic style of The White Stripes. It gives me hope for the future of creative and mindful rock and roll. Icky Thump indeed is going to be a classic.

Steve Hoffman/Kevin Gray creates the most dynamic double-vinyl for Meg and Jack. You may have heard powerful sounds cut at 45RPM, but this is a notch above that. Mastered from a 1" tape, however unassuming the grooves may look, this may be the most powerful White Stripes experience short of being inside Meg's kick drum. The album itself is as diverse as you'd expect with many surprises, even small alternate differences from its CD counterpart (but the CD has a different spread of artwork). Past stock-issue White Stripes LPs have always sounded good but this has its own zip code for sure.

This won't tax your cartridge, as powerful as this cutting might be. If most Lps sounded like this, CDs would have a hard time surviving past 1986.
