Cosmo’s Factory - the name drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford gave CCR’s rehearsal studio because so many hits were created there - lived up to its namesake in spades. Released in July 1970, the album contained more hit singles (six) than any other CCR LP, achieved multi-platinum status and became the band’s all-time best-selling album both in the U.S. and worldwide (69 weeks on the Billboard charts). In addition, the trailblazing extended version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (which Rolling Stone pronounced "more intense than any six minutes of Grateful Dead music on record") was never released as a single during the group’s heyday but received enormous AM and FM airplay, boosting both the song and the LP to No. 1 on all three trade music charts.

Originally released in 1970.

Always loved this album. It's been one of my favourites for longer than I'd care to admit. The remastering is supurb and it sounds fresh and sharp. The best I've ever heard it sound.

Is This a Record or a Greatest Hits Compilation?

What can I say about Cosmo's Factory that hasn't already been said about the moon and the stars.

No, but on a serious note this is from start to finish an amazing collection of music that sounds so much better than my cd version of all these songs. Stunning sound and black ink, dead quiet, superbly flat vinyl make this another great installation in the CCR library. I can't wait to get the rest of these into my collection.

So much better than my used copy

Over the years I have picked up all the Creedence LPs used. In the UK getting decent used copies has been difficult - people seem to want to hold onto them. Well, I traded up for this and the difference is astounding. I think what I aim for, and probably what everyone who uses Acoustic Sounds aims for, is that elusive realism, as if you have the band set up in your room, with all the amps buzzing. Well this LP gives you that. The drums and bass in particular are great and overall it sounds more immediate. You can easily be transported back to 1969 and on a wet evening in rural Bedfordshire that is a place I like to go to.
