There Was A Real Upgrade in detail and Space in the sound. One thing of Note This moter runs HOT about 15 degress hotter than my orignial moter. I contacted VPI and was told that an increace of up to 25 to 30 degrees warmer was normal.Mine went from an average of 76 degrees to about 91 and holds this temp. for long listening sessions. This would Be good to know if any one else has the same thing happen. Still not sorry I own it. A GREAT Upgrade for the cash!!!

If you own a Scout and want to use the SDS you will need to change your original motor.

at the audability of the difference between the upgrade motor and the original. Maybe that is because I did not really expect to hear much difference, if any at all. I have trouble verbalizing what I am hearing but the effect is one of greater continuity. The music just seems to flow more naturally and is more convincing, it is just easier to be transported into the live event. Highly recommended!!!

A no-brainer upgrade for the Scout

I purchased this upgrade after my VPI Scout's original motor began to fluctuate. It took only 20 minutes to install the new motor and it didn't even require any soldering. I'm now hearing improved PRAT and blacker backgrounds.

Let's face it, audio has it's share of snake oil and promises.Scout vs. Scoutmaster, Im not convinced that there is that much difference in the two.Package A is a small price to pay for more stable speed and higher torque to counter stylis drag on playback. Comes with new 300 rpm motor,capacitor, and larger pulley.No instuctions...
