The title of this record is The Tube because they used tubes every step of the way. From a Neumann M49 (tube mic) to the tube mixer and amplifier to a Telefunken M5 tape recorder and finally mastered with tubes. Throughout this gatefold album there are many beautiful pictures of the vintage recording equipment used on this recording with explanations of the pain staking processes they went through to achieve the great sound you will hear on this album.

A way forward...at last! posted on 10/14/2011 5 Stars Reviewer: Dr G Having been very disappointed in almost all heavy vinyl reissues over the years (thin, grey, flat, lifeless) Tacet at last show us the way forward and that it is not 180g vinyl that is the problem but the old tapes and shoddy mastering and pressing. This new recording on vintage tube gear (Neumann mics and Telefunken tape decks), pressed by Speakers Corner on 180g sounds as good as my old original pressings - excellent hall space and depth, truthful timbre, effortless dynamics, lyrical flow, great sense of humanity and emotion. Tacet I salute you! Other "audiophile" companies take note please.

Wonderfully Clean and Pure Sound posted on 08/01/2008 5 Stars This record is very enjoyable indeed with an interesting selection of instruments used and lovely clear and pure sound from valve equipment. The tracks are well placed on the record which makes for a lovely listning time, certainly sounds good through my SET amps.

I love this music. It's always easy to listen to. I don't have a lot of performances to compare, so I won't comment on that aspect, other than to say that it's pleasing and fun even after repeated listenings. Dave
