Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound from the original three-track masters

"The vinyl is completely silent; I cranked this up, got a ton of detail and no noise at all ... I can't imagine even an original sounding much better than this." — Rocco Richardson, Pieces of Vinyl / YouTube video

"...Thanks to Analogue Productions' 45-rpm reissue of Cooke's 1963 RCA album Night Beat he still speaks to us - eloquently. The sound is opulent; the songs excellent; the singing nonpareil; the mood, oh-so nostalgic." Music = 4.5/5; Sonics = 4/5 - Jonathan Valin, The Absolute Sound, September 2010

"...The recording by Dave Hassinger is a masterpiece of immediacy, transparency and harmonic complexity...This is a big, juicy, wet and intoxicating recording comprised of richly drawn instruments, particularly Billy Preston's shimmering Hammond organ and Hal Blaine's woody percussion...A knockout of a reissue and essential." Music = 10/11; Sound = 10/11 - Michael Fremer, Musicangle

"Whenever I think of Night Beat, I wonder how many records as perfect have been made since 1963. Listen anew to Sam Cooke's vocal honey on this Soul Blues album and I doubt you will come up with any worthy contenders...This 45 RPM issue was remastered at Sterling Sound and brings out the backing musicians including organist Billy Preston and guitarist Barney Kessel better than the ABKCO release, and makes it sound more like Sam was in the same room with the band. The definitive Night Beat." Recording = 10/10; Music = 10/10 - Dennis Davis, Hi-Fi+, Issue 69

Clearly Sam Cooke’s most intimate, most soulful and ultimately most real recording. This one has the feel of a private performance captured after hours when the audience had gone home and the singer was singing purely for the love of his songs. The performance put forth is simply straight from Cooke’s soul. His selection of songs include spiritual, bluesy ballads and gospel classics. Cooke owns these songs, making each interpretation all his own. This is warm music that’s easy to connect with. Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound from the original three-track masters.

Originally released in 1963.

Can’t believe it took me so long to purchase this treasure-but better late than never!

Great songs, superb performances, and wonderful sound quality. LPs are very quiet and flat-Sam Cooke never sounded better!

Highest recommendation!

This has always been one of his greatest albums. Now, on this 45rpm vinyl, after listening to CD and MP3 versions, it's like the music is in the room with me. I had the 180G album, which first took me to the mountaintop. Then I heard this! I went over the mountain baby!! There is nothing left to say. If you're considering this album, don't consider anymore. Life is way too short, and let's face it, we all can blow $50 or so on real stupid stuff. Just buy the album. Get it overwith. You'll fall in love instantly, and guess what??? You can play it again!!!!!

Marvelous

This album is simply fantastic. While Sam's voice is ever so slightly recessed and maybe not ultra pristine....the piano prominent in the left channel is unlike anything I have experienced. It is simply "there" & natural sounding in a way I have never encountered.

I bought this in my last batch of imports and I am delighted with the quality of the pressing. It is up there with the best produced by acoustic sounds so if you are into soul buy this album with confidence. The music is up there with the best of the soul albums. I just would like to have a few more of the great soul albums from this period of american soul

I'm the proud owner of an USA original mono copy of this marvellous record, everytime I listen to this album something special happens. I think this record is among the greatest work ever committed to vinyl, so I put it in a class of its own. I decided to buy an audiophile 45 rpm copy, and as I put it on my turntable....wonderful, full of warmth and details, a great job! I was astonished. So, if you like the great American Art, please listen to this record
