Sitar player/composer Anoushka Shankar live album!

The British-Indian-American sitar player, producer, film composer and activist Anoushka Shankar presents a live album, Between Us..., on July 8, 2022. It features Shankar's regular collaborator — and master of the Hang a.k.a. hand pan — Manu Delago alongside Holland's Metropole Orkest, directed by conductor and arranger Jules Buckley, the renowned orchestra's honorary conductor since 2020. The album was recorded in 2018 during a short run of shows in the Netherlands, and will be available ohere on vinyl LP.

To read a list of Anoushka Shankar's accomplishments is to read many life stories in one: masterful sitarist; film composer; impassioned activist; the youngest and first female recipient of a British House of Commons Shield; the first Indian musician to perform live or to serve as presenter at the Grammy Awards with seven nominations under her belt, and the first Indian woman to be nominated. Immersed from a young age on the world stage by her father Pandit Ravi Shankar, one of the most prominent names in India's music history, Anoushka has over a quarter-century's performing behind her: she is a singular, genre-defying artist across realms — classical and contemporary, acoustic and electronic.

For this album, she is joined by the world's leading pop and jazz orchestra, the Metropole Orkest, which has throughout the years received no less than 21 Grammy nominations and worked on four Grammy-winning productions and by one of the most important names in music, the Grammy winning composer, arranger, curator and conductor, Jules Buckley.
