Considered one of the two greatest live blues recordings ever made (the other is Live at the Regal, recorded in 1964), Live in Cook County Jail, recorded in 1970, returns on this 2015 vinyl reissue from Geffen Records and Universal Music Enterprises. B.B.'s first Top 25 album, Live in Cook County Jail includes inspired versions of "The Thrill Is Gone," "Sweet Sixteen," "Everyday I Have the Blues," "Please Accept My Love" and more.
Geffen and UME are reissuing nine of B.B. King's early albums that haven't been available for decades. Recorded in the 1950s and 1960s, these albums include B.B. King Wails (1959) B.B. King Sings Spirituals (1960), The Great B.B. King (1960), King of the Blues (1960), My Kind of Blues (1961), More B.B. King (1961), Easy Listening Blues (1962), Blue in My Heart (1962) and B.B. King [aka The Soul of B.B. King] (1963).
Lastly, B.B. King's Deuces Wild, his duets album, will be released on vinyl for the first time as a double LP gatefold edition. It'll feature collaborations with D'Angelo, the Rolling Stones, Dr. John and many more.
"One of the greatest concert recordings of all time. How could it be less, with B.B. King performing some of his best material before a literally captive audience in an Illinois prison? 'Worry, Worry' and 'How Blue Can You Get' take on deeper meanings here, although King works the latter's camp lyrics as if he were in a juke joint. His mix of down-home humility and commanding stagecraft is instantly appealing. And his guitar barks, sings, and squeals with such authority that this is a bravura performance from the first bent, soul-searing note. A true desert-island disc." — Amazon.com
