Reissue of the 1955 classic album
Featuring "Confirmation," "Autumn in New York," and "You Can Depend On Me"
Dexter Gordon was one of the most important American Jazz tenor saxophonists to ever play and one of the architects of bebop along with contemporaries Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk. In his 40+ year career, he recorded many albums for labels such as Savoy, Dial, Bethlehem, Prestige, Blue Note, Steeplechase, and many more. His accolades include Downbeat Musician of the Year (1978 & 1980), an induction into the Jazz Hall of Fame, and the National Endowment for the Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement (both in 1980).
AllMusic gives Daddy Plays The Horn 4/5 stars, saying "...the support team provides Gordon top-notch contributions throughout, it is unquestionably (Gordon) who offers the most in terms of active interaction and his prominence can not be overstated."
