Soundtrack for the Studio Ghibli Japanese animated film Mr. Dough and The Egg Princess
Remastered album, etched side B, OBI strip, limited edition
The soundtrack of Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess. Joe Hisaishi reconstructed Vivaldi's 'La Folia' with a modern approach. The music from the play is recorded so that it can be listened to as a suite. They are works that can be enjoyed with different arrangements from each image album and soundtrack. This is a remastered album, with new artwork, gorgeous specifications, a full explanation, and liner notes.
Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess is a 12-minute short made for the Studio Ghibli museum. It draws inspiration from european fairy-tales such as Baba Yaga and Humpty-Dumpty. It premiered on November 20, 2010. It is the eighth in a series of twelve short films screened exclusively at the Saturn Theater in the basement of the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan.
The film tells the story of the witch Baba Yaga, who keeps her servant the Egg Princess confined and forces her to do hard daily chores around the mill. One night, a batch of kneaded dough comes to life and befriends the Egg Princess.
All of the LPs in this series were created by longtime Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi. Hisaishi is one of Japan's most prolific and celebrated composers, creating over 100 film scores and albums to date, including every Hayao Miyazaki animation since they first crossed paths, with the exception of Whisper of the Heart, which Miyazaki didn't direct.
