Intervention Records introduces the next Hybrid SACD in its (Re)Discover Series, Joe Jackson's stunning 1984 classic, Body and Soul. Body and Soul is Joe Jackson's jazz-infused followup to his 1982 smash Night and Day. It features two of Joe's most cherished compositions, "You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)" and "Be My Number Two."

Body and Soul is a landmark recording as well, being an early digital recording captured on a 32-track 3M system in New York City's Masonic Lodge. The vast reverberent space of the hall is beautifully drawn, and yet Joe and the band sound positively explosive.

Body and Soul's original PCM digital files are remastered to DSD by Kevin Gray at CoHEARent Audio. The results are amazing! Body and Soul has never sounded so full-bodied. In addition to the wonderful ambience of the Masonic Lodge, the imaging is more three-dimensional and holographic than ever, and the band more dynamically explosive.

The album art is beautifully restored by IR's Tom Vadakan and housed in a super jewel box.

I Thought the regular issue was Fantastic, But...

This SACD is even better than the regular issue from many years ago. The regular issue was what I used to demo my system to friends, It was better than any SACDs in my large collection. Now, this is my go to. This is Joe Jackson's most ambitious project by a long shot. I highly recommend it.

I still have the original vinyl release and the packaging, from artwork and liner notes to the thicker cover and weight of the disc is like the old jazz records my dad owned growing up. I have a CD copy too and was greatly disappointed with the sound quality. This SACD brings together the best of both worlds packaged in a Super Jewel Box case. The songs have dynamic room with a solid sound stage more like the vinyl.

I have listened to this twice since I received it. It is absolutely fantastic. The bass is rich and full and the drums sound great. The horns are piercing and the whole thing is a big, big improvement of the redbook. I have owned 3 different versions of he redbook CD and the English one was the best but this tops it by a huge margin. Get it while you can. You will regret not buying it.

I owned the RBCD for years and have never tired of the music. I will consider the SACD if it actually is improved over the RBCD. Unfortunately, I don't see anything in the writeup that the original master was used for producing the SACD.

If that piece of information is added to the description I"m all in!
