So What Else Is New?

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, November 21, 2015 by audiofan Like alll the other Zappa (reissue) reviews I have posted here, this album breathes new sonic life into this 40-plus year-old recording: all while retaining its wonderful original sound, mix, and feel (this does NOT sound digital or "tweezed" in any way)...indeed, fans will experience the thrill they first encountered were they so fortunate as to have purchased the old Discreet release in '74... with improved seperation, dynamic range, clarity, extension in the low-end, and soundstage depth & width. In short, if you're a died-in-the-wool Zappaphile, this will be essential! Highly recommended to anyone who loves music, and especially to those who think (as I do) that Zappa hit a personal "high note" with "One Size Fitas All". And here, on German-pressed vinyl, the results are stunning ! A true "demo-disc" from the '70s! Highly recommended! on every front!

"Sensation" Indeed

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, August 5, 2014 by audiofan This Pallas-pressed version of "Over-nite Sensation" is superb in every way. The pressing is quiet & perfectly flat. The sonics are impressive as well, perhaps slightly more "dynamic" than the DiscReet original, but it sounds great. Highly recommended!

Not from Masters Tapes

1 Stars
Posted Friday, June 21, 2013 by mauidj According to Michael Fremer..... This was mastered from a digital copy made by Zappa in 1987. FZ made the transfer using the Sony dash PCM 3324 at 44.1K 16 bit back in 1987 because the tape was already badly deteriorating and at the time that was the best they could do.
