Posted Sunday, January 25, 2026 by Randy This boxed set includes 3 releases of albums currently available (Cookin', Relaxin', and Steamin' - all are 2022 releases pressed at QRP).

The release of Miles appears to use the same plate as the recently released Craft Recordings versions of these albums, which is mastered by Kevin Gray (CR00722-A 43626.1(3)... KPG@CA). The only difference between the AP release and the Craft release appears to be pressing plant. However, the only proof I have is the rice paper QRP sleeve and a statement on the AS website. The jacket appears to be the same as the 1996 AP release of this title.

The release of Workin' appears to be different than the Craft Recordings release from a couple years ago. However, like the Craft release of the same title, Kevin Gray is the mastering engineer on this release. The jacket appears to be the same as the 1996 AP release of this title.

I fell love in love with Caelan’s first record after the first listen. This album is much different. There is so much more here and it takes time to really appreciate what is presented. It’s not just Caelan and a Bass player. The synergy between musicians is fabulous. Sound quality is great! Don’t believe Micheal Fremer’s liner notes. Great record!!

Posted Monday, December 29, 2025 by Jay G So, I did not buy this from acoustic sounds (bought directly from Ledisi lol). Thought it would be ok for me to speak on “for Dinah” as I have the record and well I’ve bought a lot of stuff from here also…lol.

With this being said…WOW this is an incredible recording! She has a wonderful flow with all the songs. The producer did a great job with excellent musical balance. I have to say I’ve listened to the record and the Hi Res audio version on Qobuz. I have to say the record just had so much more “soul” to it. The style music truly does work well with Vinyl.

I would not hesitate at all to recommend this recording! In fact, I emailed acoustic sound to see if they could create an SACD version! Especially if they can instill the warmth and musicality that I get from the Vinyl!

Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2025 by Greg After getting into jazz recently and getting at least 50+ albums in last few months, I'd held off on buying this title, as the cover just looked .. old'ishsh to me. But so happy I picked it up, very quiet sound floor in the soft passages, like when just a few stand up bass strums and light piano with the brushing of the snare. Just cool jazz that I like, early Miles and Colrane for instance. But lovely piano too. Very happy with this and all the Blue Note represses.

Vinyl Better Sonics Than The Original Chesky SACD

Obviously, the performance/song choice is the same on both formats, but the sonics on the vinyl reissue improve upon the original SACD in every way. BTW, the pressing is super-quiet. Just buy it before it's no longer available !

This record takes you across many different musical genres, from jazz to fusion to ballad to funk and back again. Just when you think you've already heard the best song on the album, the next scene starts and you realize you were wrong. Yes, I am a huge fan of John McLaughlin, and this record makes me realize why!

Impex did a wonderful job with everything...the sound, the pressing, and the awesome album jacket. Bravo!!

An epic record for a epic live show

I listen to the "CD quality" stream quite a lot, and that now seems muddied and compressed compared to this. Instrument separation here is fantastic. It really does sound like I'm amongst the musicians playing their instruments rather than just listening to a track. This record really puts the digital stream version in its place, as this is superior in every way. The streaming version almost sounds like FM Radio by comparison.

What floored me is the level of detail. I am constantly hearing things I had not heard before at all. For example in Prelude Part 2, I am keenly aware of Reggie Lucas's jamming during Pete Cosey's solo. There are parts where I didn't even know he was playing before. All of the little side notes are elevated so that nothing is missed. This record does justice to this special part of Miles Davis's career.

I own others copies ( Sony - stereo and UHQR 33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm ) The bass is very accurate. I hear more details in general. I already did not compare to UHQR 33 1/3 version and I will update my review later. I compare to the black version I bought too and I did not notice any difference

I own others copies ( Sony - stereo - UHQR 33 1/3 rpm - UHQR 45 rpm ) The bass is very accurate. I hear more details in general. I already did not compare to UHQR 33 1/3 version and I will update my review later. I compare to the blue vinyl version and I did not notice any difference

Are there different tiers of quality at QRP, reflected at the price point? So I either accept this Lp with a warp or get my money back. LP with a warp it is. Something is going on at QRP. Lately I've been getting warped records from them.

It's really close to those great BigBand reissues like I have from Analogue Productions (Art Pepper of 1995 in particuar) so I was amazed by the Audiophile-grade sound and especially from such budget price- range Record. Highly recommended.

"Oh Snap" is her 8th album and represents a progression in her artistry. The album is lyrically and vocally surprising, varied and very ear pleasing. The production is all around wonderful - helmed by the up and coming Jack DeBow (who is a producer to watch). Together, Cecile (who composes most of the tracks) and DeBow just work! They have assembled a great cast of players who bring to life Cecile's mercurial vision into a cohesive and absorbing set of music. Put it on and just let it lead you. If you are a fan of great chanteuses like Ella Fitzgerald/Sarah Vaughan/Kate Bush/Dionne Warwick then Cecile will be right up your alley. One of the best releases of 2025.
