Posted Tuesday, March 21, 2023 by Tony As I write this review I am listening to Aqualung I’ve had this sacd in every format love this lp.I’m playing it on a state of the art system.trust me when I say this.Bought this lp in about 1971 sounded good back then fast forward to today and it sounds amazing $35.00 dollars sounds like a lot of money for a sacd but it’s worth every penny buy it don’t hesitate just do it you will love it just like I do. Takes you back to when music was music not the crap going around today.

Now in 2023 I have a killer sound system trust me when I say that.I’m listening to this sacd as I write this there are not enough words to describe what I’m listening to if you know this lp buy it you won’t be disappointed.don’t hesitate just buy it.

Posted Sunday, March 12, 2023 by Jimmy James Was blown away upon hearing this album back in 1977 and I'm still blown away in 2023. I think I bought this SACD last year but had misplaced in my collection. Found it on a rainy day and rejoiced. This recording is just sublime. Pat and Jaco were just the perfect pairing at the perfect time. Think what could have been had they remained together (and alive in Jaco's case) to have been creating this kind of music for almost 50 years. The world would be a different place. In case of this SACD treatment, the price of entry is a tough pill to swallow but it's totally worth it. There is truely more there, there. A whole lot more depth to the instruments. Jaco's bass has a much fuller, bolder sound. I always thought the original ECM cd sounded terrible but the music was too good for that to matter too much. Well, here that veilled, thin sound is gone thank goodness. Rejoice!

Posted Sunday, March 12, 2023 by Brian VanPelt Every instrument comes through loudly and with visceral force. It feels like the players are in the room with you, but then there is a little reverb, so the room feels bigger.

Eric Dolphy plays several instruments and comes out of the left channel, clear as a bell. The bass seems to be in the middle, while the cello and drums are in the right channel; although I think on one song the cello was in the left channel with Dolphy. You can feel the bass plucks in your gut. The drums can have powerful thwacks, with good cymbal decay. The cello can be gloriously searing.

There is no distortion, no tape hiss, just great sound. Just about a perfect SACD.

The 180g vinyl is perfectly flat and plays with dead silence. When the first guitar note of "Born on the Bayou" was played, I had chills and was transported back to being 9-10 years old listening to the original release! The sound stage is excellent on all tracks! The reproduction of the jacket and the original Fantasy Label was dead on! This pressing is superb in every way. Glad to have it in the collection!!

You won't find a weak song on the album. Blood Harmony demonstrates Larkin Poe's interest in moving forward with new sounds and textures while developing themes associated with the American South in the very best of the southern rock and blues traditions. I highly recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of the blues and blues based rock.

Not only a stellar recording, but mid-to-high tempo blues music, with a nice selection of instruments. I can only imagine what the 2 x 45 version sounds like.
