The pressing is flawless, the sound is as good as I've ever heard it with great clarity on the instruments, and the music I like just a bit more than Getz/Gilberto. Another top-notch Verve Acoustic Sounds series release!

They didn’t crank the bass to ridiculous levels on this one either like Smiley Smile (which was ridiculously boosted). The only Flaw with this is that the spindle hole is way too small. But thank goodness I have my Stable 33.33 Center Hole reamer. I’m really getting my moneys worth on that, with these modern pressings. If you’re reading this just buy it! You know the flippers will be selling this for hundreds once these go out of stock. As Chad always says… Buy Now or Cry Later

Vinyl is flat and very quiet overall. I knew a few of the tunes but many were new to me which makes this a fresh take on a familiar genre. Glad to have it.

But listening to her in French is a particular pleasure since she not only has perfect pitch but also perfect diction, a very rare gift. And though the vynil is of no special type, the recording and sound quality are excellent. This record is a must have. Quite a treasure indeed. It is one of my fervent wishes that she would someday pay homage to the american standards at least in one collection since not only would it be an unbelievable economic success that would bring her to the mainstream but her skills would do them more than justice! Bon Chance!

Great soundtrack, great pressing

Posted Saturday, May 6, 2023 by Kenosha Lost in Translation is a wonderful sleepy/dreamy movie with a terrific soundtrack. For years, the soundtrack was extremely hard to find on vinyl. The RSD dark pink variant sold out quickly and copies were selling on eBay for $300. I waited.

Now it’s been repressed on standard black vinyl for a regular price. I have this pressing and, while not audiophile / QRP quality, it does sound very good with no pressing flaws. The record is flat with no pops and virtually no surface noise. For a standard price record, I’m pleased. I also have the CD and the vinyl sounds better, more open, warmer, less compressed.

Sample the soundtrack on streaming to make sure you’ll enjoy the music - or better yet, watch the film. The music really complements the film beautifully.

Posted Sunday, April 30, 2023 by Gordon Johnson I own this pressing from first issue and wanted to check if the B side had been recut due to the digital error edit in Purple Haze so picked another copy up. Unfortunately it has not been corrected and spoils what is not just a brilliant album but a mighty fine mastered and pressed record. Jimi and the band are having so much fun here and it comes across in this recording. I do think it would be worth getting a better edited side B and re-cutting / pressing. For obvious reason I can't rate this at 5 stars.

Chet's voice sounds amazing on this, and the strings are a fantastic touch. As close to perfect as you can get.

Freddie Hubbard is in top form and is a perfect compliment on trumpet to Dolphy's sax, clarinet and flute. They are backed by a strong rhythm section especially a driving Roy Haynes on drums. The group's version of Green Dolphin Street is fresh and innovative.

Posted Tuesday, April 11, 2023 by joey1127 This recoding always did sound like AM Radio so I was surprised at how much better this Mo-Fi version sounds. I've had an Original Apple and a Capital re-master from the 80's. Both sounded like AM radio. However, this Mo-Fi release does show significant improvement. It's still not THE BEST sounding record, but it's a lot better than the previous copies I've had. NICE JOB. MO-FI!

The Greatest Hits version is live, which is fine, but I wanted the original. In any event, this version sounds utterly perfect. Whole album is excellent, and this pressing, DSD or not, sounds insanely great.
