BUT, even though it was pressed at RTI, sides 3 and 4 contain lots of distracting clicks that really distract from listening pleasure in the quiet passages especially. Shame.

Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2025 by Andrew I like the recording, but did not expect the panning to be so radical: it sounds like as if my speakers are turned not to me, but L to the left and R to the right, making a huge gap in the middle... I can't blame the recording though, especially that Coleman's alto and Cherry's trumpet are in the same channel, probably it was done historically and you can't separate them. However, the sound realism is great: the bass is deep and clear, cymbals are distinct yet not agressive, and trumpet's surdine is full of harmonics (or overtones)...

Also the attach of the sound is quite realistic, but what is the most exciting and unexpected for me is the brushes! You can literally hear them as if someone is playing in your room. Highly recommended record even for the full price you won't be disapointed.

Live stuff, but the recording and pressing is so good, you'd never know till the audience starts clapping. very low noise floor, no pops or cracks.. almost like the 45rpm stuff, but don't have to get up 3 times. LOL

You may not know all the titles, but if you are a Nina fan you will like them. The song quality ranges from good to very good, to masterpiece. High rotation at my house. Excellent mastering and sound quality. This one will show off your system.

Posted Sunday, December 29, 2024 by Paul Couldn’t be happier with this new acoustic sounds LP, the sound quality is everything I had hoped for with this series, absolutely dead quiet vinyl, the quieter parts of the phenomenal title track like the bass solo that slows the whole piece down is incredible. This is Sonny at his most far out with the Love Supreme band backing him, Elvin’s drums are a sensation. Couldn’t be happier, acoustic sounds and QRP have done it again! Top notch mastering, beautiful glossy cover, lovely 10/10 vinyl. Don’t miss out on this one!

Startlingly Great Compilation Of Performances

Posted Thursday, December 12, 2024 by AnalogJ If you're a fan of Nina Simone, or you want to be introduced to her as a preformer, I can't think of a better way to start. She was often a fantastic and compelling live performer. Certainly quirky at times, she was an intense vocalist who would connect to the lyrics and make the songs her own. Moreover, she was a classically trained pianist early on and you can hear it in her technique as a player. She is the complete package, and a unique one. This is a compilation of a sampling of several years of performancse at the annual jazz festival in Montreaix. The splatter vinyl is not always the quietest. It took me two copies to get a really satisfactory one, but the vinyl is fun to look at. This set was also pressed on black vinyl. The sound is tonally rich, dynamic, and immediate.
