Many Spins

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, December 31, 2025 by CD I own too many records and the fault in that is the fact that many records take at least a few spins to be appreciated. This is one of them. I fell love in love with Caelan’s first record after the first listen. This album is much different. There is so much more here and it takes time to really appreciate what is presented. It’s not just Caelan and a Bass player. The synergy between musicians is fabulous. Sound quality is great! Don’t believe Micheal Fremer’s liner notes. Great record!!

Ornette Coleman - Something Else Product No: ACONC 595
Available: LimitedStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Contemporary Records (Acoustic Sounds Series)

Not my favorite mixing, but the pressing is great

4 Stars
Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2025 by Andrew I like the recording, but did not expect the panning to be so radical: it sounds like as if my speakers are turned not to me, but L to the left and R to the right, making a huge gap in the middle... I can't blame the recording though, especially that Coleman's alto and Cherry's trumpet are in the same channel, probably it was done historically and you can't separate them. However, the sound realism is great: the bass is deep and clear, cymbals are distinct yet not agressive, and trumpet's surdine is full of harmonics (or overtones)...

Hampton Hawes - Four! With Barney Kessel, Shelly Manne & Red Mitchell Product No: ACONC 387
Available: LimitedStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Contemporary Records (Acoustic Sounds Series)

I can't beleive it sounds so great for such a budget price

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2025 by Andrew Really amazing mixing and pressing: all instruments are well separated, piano sounds great and finally you can clearly hear the left hand and chord overtones! Also the attach of the sound is quite realistic, but what is the most exciting and unexpected for me is the brushes! You can literally hear them as if someone is playing in your room. Highly recommended record even for the full price you won't be disapointed.

Horace Silver - Song For My Father Product No: ABLU 744043
Available: InStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Blue Note (Classic Vinyl Series)

Another gem from Blue note

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2025 by Greg After getting into jazz recently and getting at least 50+ albums in last few months, I'd held off on buying this title, as the cover just looked .. old'ishsh to me. But so happy I picked it up, very quiet sound floor in the soft passages, like when just a few stand up bass strums and light piano with the brushing of the snare. Just cool jazz that I like, early Miles and Colrane for instance. But lovely piano too. Very happy with this and all the Blue Note represses.

Kenny Burrell - Kenny Burrell Product No: ABLU 31971
Available: LimitedStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Blue Note (Tone Poet)

fantastic LP, great sound.

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, December 17, 2025 by greg love all of the Kenny burrell lp's especially Midnight blue, but this one is really nice. Live stuff, but the recording and pressing is so good, you'd never know till the audience starts clapping. very low noise floor, no pops or cracks.. almost like the 45rpm stuff, but don't have to get up 3 times. LOL

Grant Green - Live At Club Mozambique Product No: ATMR 850
Available: BackOrdered
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Third Man Records/Blue Note (313 Series)

wow ! may be my favorite Grant Green LP

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, December 16, 2025 by greg cool funky jazz, didn't even realize it was live at first (even though says "live" on the lp cover) as i was spinning lots of recent lp's that just came in. very low noise floor, great pressing. One of if not my favorite Grant Green lp's. very happy with this pressing.

Ana Caram - Blue Bossa Product No: ACRC 045

Vinyl Better Sonics Than The Original Chesky SACD

5 Stars
Posted Monday, December 15, 2025 by Stevie D I bought the original SACD from Chesky years ago when it first came out, and it was excellent, both in terms of performance/song choice(s) and sonics. Obviously, the performance/song choice is the same on both formats, but the sonics on the vinyl reissue improve upon the original SACD in every way. BTW, the pressing is super-quiet. Just buy it before it's no longer available !

John McLaughlin - Music for Abandoned Heights Product No: AIMX 6065
Available: InStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Impex

Incredible!

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, December 7, 2025 by Rick I've been a fan of JM since the early 70s, and this album adds another outstanding milestone to his illustrious career. This record takes you across many different musical genres, from jazz to fusion to ballad to funk and back again. Just when you think you've already heard the best song on the album, the next scene starts and you realize you were wrong. Yes, I am a huge fan of John McLaughlin, and this record makes me realize why!

Impex did a wonderful job with everything...the sound, the pressing, and the awesome album jacket. Bravo!!

Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Mobile Fidelity

An epic record for a epic live show

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, November 12, 2025 by Johnny T Wow, I didn't expect this record to be so spectacular. I listen to the "CD quality" stream quite a lot, and that now seems muddied and compressed compared to this. Instrument separation here is fantastic. It really does sound like I'm amongst the musicians playing their instruments rather than just listening to a track. This record really puts the digital stream version in its place, as this is superior in every way. The streaming version almost sounds like FM Radio by comparison.

What floored me is the level of detail. I am constantly hearing things I had not heard before at all. For example in Prelude Part 2, I am keenly aware of Reggie Lucas's jamming during Pete Cosey's solo. There are parts where I didn't even know he was playing before. All of the little side notes are elevated so that nothing is missed. This record does justice to this special part of Miles Davis's career.

Posted Tuesday, November 4, 2025 by FRANCK Black vinyl and blue vinyl number 162 arrived today. My first listen through and here are my impressions. I own others copies ( Sony - stereo - UHQR 33 1/3 rpm - UHQR 45 rpm ) The bass is very accurate. I hear more details in general. I already did not compare to UHQR 33 1/3 version and I will update my review later. I compare to the blue vinyl version and I did not notice any difference

Art Pepper - Smack Up Product No: ACONC 706

Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Contemporary Records (Acoustic Sounds Series)

Great music, bad pressing

Posted Thursday, October 30, 2025 by Anonymous First Lp was warped. Sent it back for replacement. Second Lp was warped in the same way. QRP pressing. Are there different tiers of quality at QRP, reflected at the price point? So I either accept this Lp with a warp or get my money back. LP with a warp it is. Something is going on at QRP. Lately I've been getting warped records from them.

Oscar Peterson - Motions & Emotions Product No: AMPS 216397
Available: InStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: MPS

Did not expect such quality

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, October 16, 2025 by Andrew I bought it for a discount, but was quite amazed how great sounding this record is... It's really close to those great BigBand reissues like I have from Analogue Productions (Art Pepper of 1995 in particuar) so I was amazed by the Audiophile-grade sound and especially from such budget price- range Record. Highly recommended.

Milt Jackson & Coleman Hawkins - Bean Bags Product No: AATL 1316
Available: LimitedStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Atlantic

Unexpectedly blown away with it's quality

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, October 14, 2025 by Andrew I have more than 10 records with Milt Jackson (including 45 rpm) and this one is one of the best. More than that: it even became one of the cheapest, really...

If we are talking sound, it has everything you expect: distinct base, crisp and clear cymbals, nice sax (loud but not sharp or harsh). What you don't expect (especially for it's price) is frightening realism of the vibes )

Usually I see this on the audiophile releases that cost closer to 100 bucks. Really, if you have an opportunity, grab it, it's the absolute no-brainer.
