Rock/Soul Bliss

5 Stars
Posted Monday, December 7, 2015 by audiofan This double-LP is extremely well-pressed, with quiet backgrounds and no defects whatsoever. Not quite as much guitar pyrotechnics as on his debut, but the songs are so good you won't care. A superb album from a great new artist!

Great Live Bluesy Rock

4 Stars
Posted Monday, December 8, 2014 by VicN The album has a good raw live sound. Unlike some other live albums, the audience doesn't interfere with the music. The sound stage isn't the widest or deepest, but it's good enough to give a good live atmosphere. The vinyl is also quiet and detailed. This is a double album, with the first LP filled with bluesy rock. The second LP has some slower blues ballads, which I actually prefer, but both LPs are solid and enjoyable.

Awesome

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, March 28, 2012 by Simon I just love this Chili Peppers album. I've owned it on CD for many years, and recently purchased this Vinyl copy. This vinyl album sounds awesome on my Rega P3-24 turntable. So much better than the CD.

Quality songwriting well recorded

4 Stars
Posted Monday, April 25, 2011 by Bruser Jenny Lewis is new to me, but I decided to take a chance on this one. She's a singer/songwriter in the folk/rock mold. Kind of reminds me of M. Ward's eclectical bent. The recording has a naturalness to it that's very inviting and the more you listen the more your drawn into her world. Vocals here are extremely well-recorded, especially the ensemble singing. The whole thing is very engaging and it's a grower. Can't wait for her next one!

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols Product No: AWAR 3147

A must for British punk fans...

5 Stars
Posted Friday, February 26, 2010 by Anonymous This is a great album printed on heavy vinyl. It's the Sex Pistols the way they were meant to be heard, just as rebellious and aggressive sounding as they were in 1977. The mix is bass shy by today's standards, but that's they way it's supposed to sound given the genre and the fact that it's mixed for vinyl.

Marty Paich - I Get a Boot Out Of You Product No: AWAR 360572
Available: LimitedStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Warner Bros.

Great cover, great album

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, March 7, 2009 by David Stephens Off and on over the decades I've admired this cover. Only recently did I think, "It's Marty Paich, you big dummy, it's got to be good." Well, it is wonderful, with the classic "West Coast" big band vibe. The soloists include the incredible Pete Condoli, Art Pepper, Jack Sheldon, etc.

The sonics are excellent. Evidently it was simply miked with solo spotlight mics. If you like that classic swing with great soloists, this is a must have.

Van and band stun

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, January 27, 2009 by J Ellis I expect that a lot of people will review Astral Weeks and Moondance so I thought that I would tackle this one. It's generally thought of as an OK Van LP not one of his best but pretty high up on his long list. I am comparing this to my an original CD copy and to a used LP that has seen better days. It is not often that anything shocks me, but having spent some time with this LP over the last couple of weeks, I can only say that this is the best possible release of this LP, and even if the second side dips slightly on song writing quality it is still a wonderful item and one that you will need on your shelf when the final reckoning comes!

One of Madonna's best albums

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, January 17, 2009 by Anonymous Expertly crafted and put together. I would love to see an audiophile LP version with the dynamic range expanded. The best way to listen though is to burn the LP to CD without any pause between the tracks and let the music move you and your guest..

Best pressing of this title I own.

Posted Tuesday, January 6, 2009 by Steven Meditz I had preordered this title over a year & a half ago & had been waiting anxiously, & I want to say it was well worth waiting for. This 180g vinyl reissue blows the CD version away. You could not ask WB to do any better than they did with this classic by Van the Man!! Try to buy all of the WB Van Morrison reissues if you can. I know I will!!

One of the year's best!

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, May 11, 2008 by Anonymous I love this album! It's definitely one of the year's best. I wasn't a big Linkin Park fan before, but this album, being so different, with more rock and less rap, won me over. I already liked this album on CD, but the vinyl is much more revealing of the nuances of the music, showing that Linkin Park payed close attention to detail.

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres Product No: AWAR 274492

Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Warner Bros.

Oh, Mercy!

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, November 1, 2007 by Sckott Two things about this issue of Tres Hombres:

One, the original "as intended" mix is used just like the original London LP once was. When CD-time came, Bill Ham flogged everything with disco-style remixing. Unless you had that original London LP (which is soaked in compression) this is the one and only way to hear what the band first approved.

And what's there is/was absolutely beautiful.

Two, it's entirely convincing (between style and the fact the package is so well done) this album could have been released this year. Timeless as much of the material is, would it be so difficult to think "Waiting For The Bus" seems dated next to a modern White Stripes record?

The "natural" idea in music is coming back to fashion and so is Steve Hoffman's approach to mastering. However, nothing can come close to his complexity of dedication and simplicity of technical approach.

The proof is there. The album was better than you think. You will be amazed.

Posted Monday, December 25, 2006 by Anonymous The only thing I do not like about RHCP is Chad-the drummer. These guys have been peaking since Californication-the album is recorded in analogue very well. Frischante tears it up with great sounds from his equipment, Flea still the master of funk and harmony-one of the most brilliant bassists out there, and Anthony still in top form. The words are good. It is a great pop album- a little lengthy- it can be too much to listen to all of it at once. Sounds way better than the cd! The weaker songs are well into the material and all of it will grow on you with multiple listenings.
