Elvis Costello & The Roots - Wise Up Ghost Product No: ACAP 87490
Available: BackOrdered
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Capitol

A decent record, but a disappointing pressing.

Posted Friday, September 27, 2013 by Anonymous Like so much new "180-gram vinyl", this release passes itself off as a well-done package: interesting record/collaboration, nice artwork and heavy vinyl. Sonically, it's harsh, digital, and full of vocal siblence. Too bad - it's a record worth buying and enjoying. EC fans will notice lyric snip-its and samples from past records like North and Spike. New songs like "Tripwire" and "Wise Up Ghost" are highlights. I hate to say it, but, you might be better off buying a CD version to best enjoy this album. This should have been pressed by QRP!

The Beach Boys - Endless Summer Product No: ACAP 42794

Label: Capitol

Always great! But, this is a truly great pressing.

Posted Tuesday, May 7, 2013 by Anonymous I have listened to this album since the mid-70s...on headphones, CD, LP, etc. This release really jumps out of the speakers for me. The fidelity is great, and the pressing sounds very clean to me. The best sounding Beachboys LP I have except for maybe the new issue of Smile.

Posted Friday, January 4, 2013 by Anonymous A must-have recording. Great packaging and while it's in MONO, it's still a very pleasant work. Heroes and Villains finally makes since! If you don't want to buy the monster box set, this is a great way to go! It's finally here!!! SMiLE

Roxy Music - Country Life Product No: ACAP 43649

Very good sound quality

4 Stars
Posted Saturday, October 2, 2010 by Bryan Needless to say this is an absolutely excellent Roxy Music album with great songs like "The Thrill of It All", "Out of the Blue", "Casanova" and "A Really Good TIme" - and the good news is that the sound quality is very good, particularly on "Bitter Sweet" and "A Really Good Time" where Eddie Jobson's violin sounds fantastic. Not sure the poster is necessary - i would have to wonder who has that one up on their wall... If you are looking for the slick uber-produced sound from the later Roxy this one won't be for you - its less artsy than the first two, but still not conventional and definitely ahead of its time. You can see the trajectory of the band heading towards "Siren" and away from "Stranded."

I only give it four stars because while the sound quality is really good its not up to the 45rpm releases that have come out for other artists.

Deeply disappointing

2 Stars
Posted Sunday, September 28, 2008 by Anonymous This vinyl release was a very meaningful disappointment. Compared to the music club CD of this title that I own, this reissue features attenuated high frequencies, weak bass, and a distorted sound through a number of songs. If this is the standard of these Capitol reissues, you would be well-advised to avoid them all. Buy a good copy on eBay for $2.00 and you'll get better sound.

Amazing Music, Poor Pressing

3 Stars
Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 by Sam D. I love the Decemberists and their music! This release is simply a must-have! Caveat Emptor: Don't buy this on vinyl! The LP sounds rather withdrawn (on a $4,000 pair of Focal-JM Labs and a Music Hall) and heartless. Even though this was pressed on two LP's, the playing time is too long. Especially now that they are with a major label, they could afford to do a three or four disc set, which is what this music deserves. The vinyl is not 180g or even close and is quite noisy. My copy has serious ticks all the way through "The Island" and there is some serious wow on disc 2. There are no extras, liner notes or anything! UGGHH! Long story short, buy the CD!
