Posted Saturday, November 4, 2023 by Anonymous Great music and pressing. However, not as advertised as black vinyl, not translucent purple. So, 5 stars for the music, 1 star for Acoustic Sounds for wrong description

Surprised Me with both Music and Sonics!

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, May 19, 2022 by Greg C I picked this up for two reasons. 1) It's hard to find Stax records that I don't like and 2) all analog mastering gets me every time. This was surprisingly good - I mean really good - excellent soul tunes backed by Booker T, the Colonel Cropper, Duck Dunn, Al Jackson Jr., and a guest appearance by Issac Hayes. A perfect record for a Friday night with a beer. So onto the sonics... I'm not all that familiar with Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl mastering, but i am now! Clear and true... good separation, well mastered.. and good pressing from Memphis record pressing. Nice job craft - please give us more Stax reissues with this level of quality!

Van Morrison - Roll With The Punches Product No: ACRL 8522

Audiophile grade

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, November 2, 2017 by Wade One of the quietest, best sounding albums I've purchased in years. I prefer Van's original work--but for those who appreciate covers and great sound, this pressing is remarkable.

Great Record.

Posted Tuesday, May 23, 2017 by Martin Taylor Loved this record from the first note to the last. These two guys really enjoy each other on this record and the result reflects just that. Outstanding Americana music (Folk/Blues with horns would be another description).Blown away by the feeling in the songs and the sincerity of the whole thing. In the rotation for a long while to come. Excellent silent vinyl surfaces enhance the listening experience.

Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Session Product No: ASTA 7501
Available: InStock
Category: Vinyl Record
Label: Stax

Great collaboration

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, April 1, 2015 by Anonymous This vinyl sounds perfect. Liquid smooth is the only way to describe it. There doesn't seem to be any surface noise, and somehow even ticks/pops have shied away. This is a spectacular pressing.

I don't suppose anyone needs a review of this album, so I'll be brief. The two (King/Vaughan) jam together for the whole album, while Albert King does all the singing. There are a few interludes where King and Vaughan talk between songs (mostly King does the talking). As you can imagine, the guitar playing is incredible.

This is an awesome album. I was completely transfixed from start to finish, except when the talking parts were interjected - nice to hear these guys chat, but it broke the spell of the whole album. Of course, this is a minor issue and I don't count it in my rating of the album.

As recommended as it gets for any album I have heard. Everything is clicking on this one - the performance is spectacular and the sound quality is perfect.

Gary Clark Jr. - Gary Clark Jr. Live Product No: AWAR 544681

Great Live Bluesy Rock

4 Stars
Posted Monday, December 8, 2014 by VicN The album has a good raw live sound. Unlike some other live albums, the audience doesn't interfere with the music. The sound stage isn't the widest or deepest, but it's good enough to give a good live atmosphere. The vinyl is also quiet and detailed. This is a double album, with the first LP filled with bluesy rock. The second LP has some slower blues ballads, which I actually prefer, but both LPs are solid and enjoyable.

Marquise Knox - Man Child Product No: AAPO 2022
Available: InStock
Category: Vinyl Record
Label: APO Records

MAGIC!

5 Stars
Posted Monday, August 9, 2010 by Miller W Steel The music on this LP is just the best, this young man was 16 when this was recorded? I am so blown away, and then we are talking about the acoustics in that church in Kansas that Chad has converted to a performance and recording venue, it is grand. This disk plays perfectly, and the sound, the energy of the venue just charges my sound room when I play this LP. I have blown multiple gatherings away with this LP, no one ever buys it when I tell them Mr. Knox is 16 years old, then I pass around the LP cover and you should see the faces... It is great fun! Great LP, Great performance.

Buddy Guy - Skin Deep Product No: AJIV 31629

Poor sound quality

2 Stars
Posted Wednesday, August 20, 2008 by Paul I was disappointed in the thin sound of the recording. Good quality vinyl has a rich, full sound. This recording is lacking. Buddy Guy deserves better.
