Sounded Great

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, December 7, 2023 by Jim Was a pretty clean copy, just a few clicks, ticks & pops even after a bath on the VPI. For me a new record should be nothing but music. Was Tolerable. I in fact bought a copy at a local store and it had a little more noise. I took it back for refund. I no longer have the original lp to compare to. Reviewed on Rega Planner 3 with upgraded power supply through Moon phono preamp to NAD receiver out to Dynaudio Excite X44 speakers.

Niiiice!

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, June 27, 2023 by Anonymous When this record came out in 87, it was crammed onto a single vinyl disc and sounded pretty thin. The CD was better, but not by a lot. This remaster is really impressive in terms of sound quality and depth. Now that it is spread out over 4 sides, the tracks have a more consistent sound quality. This is a nice clean pressing with very little noise and well worth the money.

Very low output

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, February 14, 2023 by Mike The output seems to be really low on this release (European) and this one is being sold in the US for some reason versus the US release. Had to turn my amp up from 9 o'clock to 11-11:30. Packaging is nice and record is flat.

Tops in comparison to all 1st pressings

5 Stars
Posted Friday, December 2, 2022 by Derek Spratt I have collected over 20 Honky Chateau pressings from 1st press UK and 1st press US and Canada and other later pressings, always searching for the best sonic and cleanest/quietest results and this 2017 pressing beats them all - simply put the remastering is a dream come true and when combined with the improved pressing quality, this is a 'must have' along with all other early EJ LPs which were remastered to vinyl starting in 2014 with GBYBR. Strangely, these are not available on CD or streaming yet - except the 50th Ann Madman release. Hmmm. Vinyl is the way forward for now.

Nice remaster and extras

5 Stars
Posted Friday, June 19, 2020 by Anonymous Nice flat 180g vinyl example of a great album. Comes with a ton of live songs in addition to the 2 sides of the original. Dead silent and super deep sound stage.

Very good sound

4 Stars
Posted Tuesday, December 20, 2016 by Brian The 4-star review has nothing to do with the greatness of the album, which is incontrovertible. It's the sound quality that gets 4 stars out of 5.

The sound is usually very smooth, but it could be a little more dynamic. Sometimes there is a ragged halo around guitars. It's as is the recording tape had been oversaturated, but just by the smallest of margins. This only happens on the highest notes. Other than that, everything sounds wonderful.

It should be noted that the audience can be loud, but they only make noise at the beginnings and endings of songs. When the Allmans go off on their very longs solos, the crowd is quiet. I suspect that we, as listeners, would behave precisely the same way as we witness rock history being made.

This is one of those albums where I wish I could give a 4.5 star rating. The sound is pretty remarkable, but there are slight limitations.

God awful

1 Stars
Posted Saturday, May 14, 2016 by Ted This is a God awful remaster. Don't waste your money. Just buy the Mobile Fidelity version. 1,000 times better. This remaster has squashed all the highs and the bass is very muddy. The original album even sounds better than this hunk of vinyl. I don't know what they we're thinking, but they should have stuck to the original mastering notes. Again don't waste your money!

A plus

5 Stars
Posted Friday, July 17, 2015 by Lowel Jones QRP done a fantastic job with the pressing sounds excellent but if company's would learn to put the bar codes on the wrapping not the covers of these 70s and earlier classic lps it would be nice.

Closer to my heart!

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, May 16, 2015 by Mitch If you are a fan of Rush, do not hesitate to buy this album! This pressing is done right! The dynamics of this album are jaw-dropping - from the tinkling of bells and chirping of birds to Neil's hard hitting percussion, Geddy's bass and Alex's lush guitar - it's all in the groove!

Outstanding pressing of a Classic

5 Stars
Posted Friday, March 20, 2015 by Kenny This is an outstanding remaster and pressing of this classic.I spent a number of years buying and collecting original pressings of this album to obtain my own Hot Stamper, but this new one beats mine in all respects and is dead quiet as well.I'm not going to use any of the overused audiophile terms, the sound will simply fly out of your speakers and you will get a sense of the recording space like you have never heard before.Thank You for this.

FINALLY more classic Rush on vinyl

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, January 31, 2015 by wownflutter I was thrilled when I heard these would be from the original master tapes and pressed at QRP. All I can say is, this one sounds fantastic. Everything is top notch all the way. I'd say they top my original GK pressing.

FINALLY some classic Rush on vinyl

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, April 29, 2014 by wownflutter As far as the package goes, I really don't think any of the extras have much interest. I could have done without all of it and settled for just the vinyl at a lower price. As for the music...It's Rush, what else can I say? I've gotten some really good remasters from Mofi and Analogue Productions lately and this is not quite at that level, but it's very good nontheless. The vinyl seems very quiet and flat. I wish somebody would release more of their classic albums. They would sell like crazy.

Five stars for the mastering, four for the pressing

4 Stars
Posted Saturday, April 19, 2014 by Anonymous This is a fabulous sounding pressing of a classic album, but unfortunately side two was a bit noisy. Not enough to be a huge distraction, but the other three sides were so quiet that it stood out. Five stars otherwise. Outstanding mastering job, great dynamics, nice tight bass. No complaints there.

All wheels rollin'

4 Stars
Posted Thursday, January 31, 2013 by Jeff C - Australia The van on the cover may have lost a wheel but the music trucks along the highway with all tyres getting the traction on the road. This album is sonically very satisfying and the vinyl is nicely pressed and pretty quiet. The style of the music is kind of laid back but also has grunt so it stands up nicely to repeated plays. Mark has surrounded himself with some fine musicians and the tunes include a fusion of traditional folk, blues rock and highway rockers. The only other Knopfler solo album I have is the 2004 Shangri-La which I rather like and just like that album this one is also meticulously crafted.

More like "Refreshed" than "Resurrected"...

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, August 26, 2012 by Tony McCarty According to Bob Ezrin, his source for revisiting this album was a digital copy of the original analog tapes. The original sessions were recorded on 16-track, meaning certain instruments and vocals were "paired" and could not be separated out. This was also an issue when the Double Platinum album was being cut; Sean Delaney could do little to remix the Ezrin-produced songs. So the basic tracks on Resurrected are the same as the original album, but with greater clarity, more full bottom end, and a few added "sonic touches" that makes it stand out from the original. It sounds great! Instruments and vocals have more "air" around them and it has a more expansive, "refreshed" sound. Packaging is first rate. The album cover is the original painting offered by Ken Kelly. Inside is a color fold-out of the final Destroyer album cover with album notes by Bob Ezrin. The vinyl is dead quiet and includes the original "Bogart" Casablanca label. All 70's Kiss albums should be refreshed like this!

Don't expect Telegraph Road

3 Stars
Posted Tuesday, January 17, 2006 by Terry Be careful - The description noting 22 tracks, "beginning with Telegraph Road" is not what you get! The 14 song selection list is correct.
