However, my copy got damaged last year and had to be replaced so here I am, getting another copy and it's just as perfect as the one I got back in 2019. Good to see consistent quality from AP. This version blows the Classic Records release out the water.

Unfortunately, my copy of the 4 disc 45rpm cut of this album is crippled with crackle. Each of the 8 sides have heavy crackle on the lead out, which usually starts within the final song on the side. There are quite a few of the songs that play as advertised, and remind me what this could have been. I have between 100 and 200 AP albums in my library, and they are all great. Except this, which after one play found its place in my garage sale pile.

This box set has very silent vinyl, something I was worried about. Her vocals are amazing and the recording is first rate- I highly recommend you buy this before it is gone! This is way better than CD quality. Oh great band playing with Eva and normally I do not like live recordings but this is the rare exception, really enjoying this!

Posted Tuesday, July 21, 2015 by Drunken Angel All 3 vinyl pressings were flat & quiet. Not sure if this was a analog or digital master but whoever did the mastering/mix did an excellent job. Tight powerful bass with a little warmth, clean extended highs without being too hot & the vocal/guitar placement was perfect. So the sonics are 5 Stars and the music is also 5 stars. This is "Car Wheels" good. There are 6-7 gems/songs that are 10X more powerful on vinyl than mp3/CD. For a good time - drop the needle on "Walk On" and turn the volume knob to 1 O'clock. Highly Recommended.

Hard pressed "no pun intended" to find smoother or more elegant recording. Don't hesitate on this one!

Cecile's crystal-clear (reminiscent of Ella) vocals are up front and given prominence with the musicians in the background as it should be. She has seemingly unlimited vocal range. If you ever wondered what Bessie Smith would sound like with today's recording technology, this could be as close as you can get.

Posted Wednesday, March 21, 2012 by Scott If you're buying this record then you might be replacing your Lost Highways pressing so you're familiar with how beautiful the music is on this album. That's the case me. What I wasn't prepared for was the night and day difference between the two in terms of sound quality. Every album that I've bought that has been pressed at QRP in Salina has been excellent but I think this Doug Sax mastered album is their gold medal winning masterpiece so far. I was simply blown away from the opening notes on side one to the closing notes on the last song on side two.

When The Hunter came out on LP, I snatched it up and when there was a release of the "Raincoat" recording on special vinyl, I purchased that also. I kept waiting for "The Well" to be re-released and, here we are! As wonderful as the CD sound is, this 45 rpm release surpasses it. The extra tunes were a surprise.

Warnes really hit her stride on this album and the new mastering just makes it more special. Although expensive, this vinyl set was worth every penny! Her duet with Bramhall is about as good as a duet can be. The music and sonics are top notch.
