...another 5 in the 75th series

Posted Thursday, October 12, 2023 by joey1127 Like the Phil Collins release, this re-issue of JP is excellent. AP really did a number with this title. It's quiet, smooth, and very open sounding. If you liked JP, you have to hear the Atlantic 75th edition by Analong Productions. You will be mesmerized. Always Clean NEW records to rid them of pops, ticks, and clicks.

Beautiful music transcends genre, sounds great on vinyl

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, August 24, 2023 by Ron from Kenosha WI I'm more of a jazz, rock, classical, and soul fan, but this Willie Nelson record featuring Emmylou Harris and produced by Daniel Lanois transcends genres and really appeals to a wide cross-section of music lovers. I think Willie is 65 here, and his voice still sounds really good. The recording is really well-done and sounds terrific on vinyl - warm, airy, nice soundstage. I have the CD also, which sounds very good, but to my ears the vinyl beats it (even if the original recording was digital, which I don't know).

It's not an audiophile pressing. Clarity and instrument separation are very good for a standard-price pressing, but not at the level of, say, Analogue Productions/QRP or Speakers Corner. There's a bit of surface noise, but it's easy to tune out. These issues are minor, and for the money you're getting a gorgeous sounding LP.

Highly recommended.

We're graced with an encore

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, December 7, 2021 by James Cox I don't know who did the mastering . . .or lacquers . . . or plating . . . or pressing with respect to the production of this vinyl, but the good news is all parties were competent and wise enough to simply accurately convey the collaboration of two of the most professional and talented vocalists recording today to do what they do best. As gorgeous as Allison Krause's voice is (and IS that), somehow the addition of Robert Plant’s vocal texture and power blend so beautifully and effectively - it's amazing. At times both Robert and Allison deliver individual vocalizations - but in passages where the vocals are blended . . . well it is, as they say, (even) greater than the sum of its parts. Seamless, gorgeous and powerful. They have graced us with an encore to their multi Grammy Award winning debut and there isn’t a weak track on any of the four sides. On the evening I began listening to this album I had trouble listening to anything else - just superb.

Well done re-issue!

5 Stars
Posted Friday, December 3, 2021 by Joey1127 I had a re-press on the Black Victor Label from the early, early 1980's that sounded OK. Was a bit hot, but alright. That copy was defective from purchase so when I saw this re-issue, figured, "Why not?"

Let me say this is an EXCELLENT re-issue. It's not as hot as the older pressings and is dead silent, too. Very, very well done! If you had it in the past, or if you just want another clean copy, this re-issue is pretty dang close to perfect...I LOVE it!

Very Solid Pressing

Johnny Cash's Soul

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, May 23, 2021 by Richard Daniel Shipp Johnny Cash with a Mic, a quiet guitar, and other very laid back instruments, you can hear such a pure record. Really touching, and the Production is top quality. So very glad I bought this. Now I have to collect the rest of the American collection.

Fantastic!

Posted Sunday, November 8, 2020 by Brian I wish people would write more reviews on modern recordings. I expect $55 meticulously remastered vinyl from the original master to be amazing but I never no on a new recording. This is my second Chris Stapleton record and the music, recording and mastering are great. I highly recommend Studio A vol 1&2. System Wilson Benesch Full Circle, Nagra VPS & PL-L, sure Mx-r and Wilson Audio Sasha.

Great Music that needs remastering

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, September 1, 2020 by Mission Man This is a great album that sounds wonderful on my car stereo, but falls short on my high end audio system. It therefore needs to be remastered again so the full sound of the original recording comes through.

Hank Williams certainly deserves the best and this isn’t it, I’m sorry to say.

Exceptional music and pressing

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, May 16, 2020 by Bob H This is what country music should sound like, but just doesn't today. Songs written and produced especially for veteran Tanya Tucker by an all-star team (Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings). That means stories like only she can tell, and a voice that sounds as good as when she started back in 1972. No wonder it won the Grammy for best country album and was named Rolling Stone's top Americana album in 2019. Added bonus: on this pressing, it sounds as if Tanya and friends are all in your living room.

Great music and good recording!!!

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, May 12, 2020 by Brian I’m not the biggest country western guy but I like Chris Stapleton. This album has great music and the sonics are quite good. It may be just a tad laid-back but over all nice and not compressed. My only complaint is the record was slightly warped but did not effect playback. Recommended!!!

Pat Metheny - From This Place Product No: ANON 596317

From This Place -- IMO --Pat's creative juices continue to flow

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, March 11, 2020 by Mark Swinford Another great album by Pat Metheny; excellent recording quality too. Pat continues to remain fresh/relevant/timeless and creative.

In addition, I really dig the drum work of Antonio Sanchez!

Of course the symphony and the rest of Pat's band are outstanding also -- top notch-- and over his colorful and talented musical career, that's what we've come to expect from Pat Metheny's genius.

The cover art is both ominous and intriguing.

As usual, Chad's staff, service and packaging were excellent!

Your own private Willie Nelson concert.

Posted Wednesday, April 3, 2019 by Reilly Hamer Hard to believe mine is the first review for this amazing album since its release on QRP last year! Not to mention its spot on Acoustic Sounds' bestseller list for quite some time. Be that as it may, this 45 rpm release is the next best thing to having Willie Nelson in the room with you-seriously. Side One alone- featuring 'Stardust' and 'Georgia On My Mind' are worth the price. If you like Willie, this is must buy.

Beats the 33 RPM

Posted Saturday, September 12, 2015 by Anonymous Compared to the 33 RPM, the 45 has that little bit extra separation and refinement. If you love these songs, you'll want this record!

Great set!

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, April 4, 2015 by Alan Lawrence I am very pleased with this set. The pressings are dead quiet and flat. The box is sturdy and the covers are nicely reproduced. It sounds like Johnny is playing in your living room. I know these are not analog recordings, but the vinyl sounds much more natural than the CD counterparts. Excellent purchase.

Fauss shines on "Built to Break"

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 by Anonymous One of the highlights of this album is “Eighteen Wheels,” a seriously excellent country rock tune that features Rhett Miller (from Old 97’s) on vocals, Chris Tuttle shines on piano. I love the energy of this song. With lyrical references to country artists like Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris, and also Bob Dylan, it's road trip track for sure. “I Can’t Make You Happy” also refers to Bob Dylan, specifically “Tangled Up In Blue.”

Essential

5 Stars
Posted Monday, March 10, 2014 by Dan Swan We purchased all six CASH releases pressed at QRP and could not be more impressed with the quality. The music on all six albums is essential for any music collection, and perhaps the most important music released in the past century. Johnny Cash left the most important work of his career for the end. His voice is warm and worn, and glows on vinyl with persistent gravity. A man aware his life is about to end, and revealing his soul with passion and conviction. The focus here is on the lyric, and the song choices reveal his humanity while inviting us to see ourselves within each song. These American Recordings are treasures for every generation to come; and if you have only heard this music on CD, you owe it to yourself to feel these amazing performances with the warmth and depth that only vinyl can provide. Highly recommended to anyone who loves honest heartfelt music.
