Previously releases were too muddy with vinyl noise level being too noticeable. This release is wonderful - in every way. Once again - done so fine!

Great Recording

Posted Saturday, January 22, 2022 by Brian VanPelt The recording sounds pristine and the instruments sound like they are in the room. The layout involves the piano and Contrane on the left, the drums and Dolphy on the right, and the bass is in the center.

Both Coltrane and Dolphy sound very clean and have the most "in your room" sound, but the drums are not far behind. The piano is sharp, but a little subdued relatively speaking. I could hear the bass even when all the other instruments were simultaneously playing.

Overall, the sound is excellent, although there are a few times when Coltrane turns his head away from the mic, and it sounds almost like tape dropouts.

The outer jacket is a nice, stout, tip-on, gatefold jacket. The inner sleeve is an anti-static bag.

My copy's pressing is nice, but on side 2 there are very light scratches spiraling through the inner groove and into the last song. These scratches are so faint, you can only see them at certain angles. They have no sonic effect.

This record sounds absolutely fantastic. The music I've already have loved, but the mastering, pressing and jacket are really well done. I wish this series never ended...

The soundstage is sweet as can be allowing your ears to wrap around all of the instruments as they shine through. Just takes the listening experience to another level, they should be very proud of this release.

Ryan Smith captured the essence of the master tape into the groove and the experts at Chad's plating and pressing plants did the rest. One of the quietest vinyl records I've ever put on a turntable. Bravo!
