That Beautiful 100% Analog Sound

Posted Monday, November 15, 2021 by James I bought Starfish sometime early 1990 on CD. I still have that same one and played it a thousand times. I love it. I have never heard it on vinyl until last Saturday night. I was stunned...I couldn't stop grinning. Even my wife who was in another room yelled out "Wow!" 5 seconds later she was sitting with me loving it too.

Dead quiet vinyl, the music sounded as natural as if they were playing live in front of us. What a beautiful job Ryan K Smith at Sterling Sound and RTI did. Sonically this album is quite impressive. THIS is the way it was meant to sound!

Pressing quality is excellent, presentation is much improved with reimagined cover art in a heavyweight, Stoughton gatefold jacket. Don’t bother buying this vinyl pressing

Posted Monday, February 22, 2021 by NA I’m a big fan of this album and was horribly disappointed with this vinyl pressing. Overall, the vocals and instruments are muffled and sound like you’re listening from the other room, not like a vinyl album should sound like. I was so bothered that I cued “Santa Monica” on my smart speaker and this vinyl record at the same time to compare sound quality, and honestly, the quality from my smart speaker was by far better...the vocals are just brighter. I’ve tested my equipment and other records etc to make sure it wasn’t something else causing the poor sound quality, it wasn’t. Don’t bother buying this vinyl. So disappointed, love this album. I tried to return it but obviously there’s not much that can be done, it’s the the way intervention records mastered it.

Longing for the Original

Posted Monday, August 3, 2020 by Bob Longley I have always loved Armatrading’s natural delivery and powerful vocals, and I’m a fan a Kevin Gray’s mastering abilities. However, the sound quality of this album does not give you the same goosebumps as the original. Perhaps it is due to the album being made from the safety copy (a second generation) tape. Unknown is the quality of tape used for the safety copy or the machine that recorded it, but this album lacks the gravity and presence of the original.

Posted Wednesday, October 10, 2018 by Anonymous First the sound quality is excellent. Record was flat, a plus in my book Nice cover, and record came in a vinyl sleeve, not paper. This was my first order with Acoustic Sounds and I'm impressed with the packaging. It makes Am-----n's packaging look they sent it in an envelope. I had this in mp3 but wanted to hear what it sounded like on vinyl. It rocked me and the neighbors dog. He barks when I play something he likes.

GP better than ever

Posted Wednesday, February 21, 2018 by Ken Trexler Fell in love with GP when i heard his first album with Emylou Harris then had to collect all his work from The International Submarine Band to the Byrds and the Burrito’s. If the rest of his catalog is done as well as this lp I’m going to be spending a lot of bucks. Finally hearing Chris Ethridge’s bass and Eddie Hoh’s drums driving the backbeat in glorious fashion. Sneaky Pete’s steel guitar the fender 400 used with a fuzz box hits u like something out of the science fiction movies which he loved. Gram and Chis Hillman vocals are clear and precise. This seminal version of one of the founding fathers of country rock is a must have edition for your record collection.
