Beautiful music transcends genre, sounds great on vinyl

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, August 24, 2023 by Ron from Kenosha WI I'm more of a jazz, rock, classical, and soul fan, but this Willie Nelson record featuring Emmylou Harris and produced by Daniel Lanois transcends genres and really appeals to a wide cross-section of music lovers. I think Willie is 65 here, and his voice still sounds really good. The recording is really well-done and sounds terrific on vinyl - warm, airy, nice soundstage. I have the CD also, which sounds very good, but to my ears the vinyl beats it (even if the original recording was digital, which I don't know).

It's not an audiophile pressing. Clarity and instrument separation are very good for a standard-price pressing, but not at the level of, say, Analogue Productions/QRP or Speakers Corner. There's a bit of surface noise, but it's easy to tune out. These issues are minor, and for the money you're getting a gorgeous sounding LP.

Highly recommended.

We're graced with an encore

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, December 7, 2021 by James Cox I don't know who did the mastering . . .or lacquers . . . or plating . . . or pressing with respect to the production of this vinyl, but the good news is all parties were competent and wise enough to simply accurately convey the collaboration of two of the most professional and talented vocalists recording today to do what they do best. As gorgeous as Allison Krause's voice is (and IS that), somehow the addition of Robert Plant’s vocal texture and power blend so beautifully and effectively - it's amazing. At times both Robert and Allison deliver individual vocalizations - but in passages where the vocals are blended . . . well it is, as they say, (even) greater than the sum of its parts. Seamless, gorgeous and powerful. They have graced us with an encore to their multi Grammy Award winning debut and there isn’t a weak track on any of the four sides. On the evening I began listening to this album I had trouble listening to anything else - just superb.

Johnny Cash's Soul

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, May 23, 2021 by Richard Daniel Shipp Johnny Cash with a Mic, a quiet guitar, and other very laid back instruments, you can hear such a pure record. Really touching, and the Production is top quality. So very glad I bought this. Now I have to collect the rest of the American collection.

Great Music that needs remastering

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, September 1, 2020 by Mission Man This is a great album that sounds wonderful on my car stereo, but falls short on my high end audio system. It therefore needs to be remastered again so the full sound of the original recording comes through.

Hank Williams certainly deserves the best and this isn’t it, I’m sorry to say.

Fauss shines on "Built to Break"

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 by Anonymous One of the highlights of this album is “Eighteen Wheels,” a seriously excellent country rock tune that features Rhett Miller (from Old 97’s) on vocals, Chris Tuttle shines on piano. I love the energy of this song. With lyrical references to country artists like Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris, and also Bob Dylan, it's road trip track for sure. “I Can’t Make You Happy” also refers to Bob Dylan, specifically “Tangled Up In Blue.”

Essential

5 Stars
Posted Monday, March 10, 2014 by Dan Swan We purchased all six CASH releases pressed at QRP and could not be more impressed with the quality. The music on all six albums is essential for any music collection, and perhaps the most important music released in the past century. Johnny Cash left the most important work of his career for the end. His voice is warm and worn, and glows on vinyl with persistent gravity. A man aware his life is about to end, and revealing his soul with passion and conviction. The focus here is on the lyric, and the song choices reveal his humanity while inviting us to see ourselves within each song. These American Recordings are treasures for every generation to come; and if you have only heard this music on CD, you owe it to yourself to feel these amazing performances with the warmth and depth that only vinyl can provide. Highly recommended to anyone who loves honest heartfelt music.

The Incomparable Patsy Cline

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, March 7, 2013 by ReCliner Sean What can you say about the late great incomparable Patsy Cline? She still lives today even though she passed 50 years ago. This is an amazing vinyl collection that any audiophile should and must have. The general quality of this pressing is superb! Everyone knows Patsy Cline's style as well as the lush fullness of her emotional voice, this pressing proves true. Clear crisp original session seems to be right next-door! The famous hiss on Crazy is practically diminished! The surprise modern gatefold is any collectors dream. Patsy Cline never really died, because her music proves to be alive and timeless.

Epic, authentic sound!

5 Stars
Posted Monday, March 12, 2012 by Steven McCornack This one was a double-whammy for me. First Johnny Cash LP, first Speakers Corner pressing. Read great things about SC over the years, and was NOT disappointed. Clean and flat vinyl (no annoying warpage), nicely packaged in anti-stat sleeve. Dropping my Grado Statement stylus onto the leadin groove, WOW! HUGE, spacious, open sound. Voice clear, clean, and rich (and WHAT a voice....). Not my fave genre of music (bought it on a lark), but GREAT songs. So immediate and gripping, you feel like you are right there. I originally was going to just listen to a couple of tracks, but ended up spinning both sides without interruption. Just couldn't stop! Speakers Corner really hit it out of the park with this pressing - quiet, rich, warm, natural tone - all of the elements that we vinyl fanatics love. And the guitars - Yeah!!! Worth every penny. Equipment: Well-Tempered Amadeus GT, Grado Statement, GNSC-modded ARC SP-14, VAC PHI200, Aerial 7bs, Silversmith cabling.
