My original copy from 1971 was showing it's age and being able to hear it again on vinyl without any surface noise or ticks and pops as a blessing! This was an amazing band. These first 2 albums are their best, in my opinion, and I'm so grateful that they've been reissued. Vinyl sounds great! Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates great vocal harmonies and tight, explosive rhythms.

Long out of print, my original copy from 1970 - though well cared for, was certainly showing it's age. This band was terribly underrated. Vocal harmonies next to none! I saw them live on many occasions. To hear this wonderful record again without the surface noise and pops, etc., is a blessing. Beautiful reissue. Sounds great! I did replace the inner liners though. I couldn't be happier that this and their 2nd album (yes, I bought that one too) have been made available again. 10 thumbs up!!!

Pro; I am pleased to own this LP the music is great and vinyl absolutely dead quiet. The cover first rate. I would recommend this LP and truly enjoy it. My 21 year old son loves it too. Con; The recording sounds a bit recessed although clear not muffled. Dynamics are there but again somewhat recessed little truly jumps out at the listener. The music sounds best at a higher volume. LOL, The Who would approve! A solid 5.

Mick Jones on several tracks - Police & Thieves, for example, is the best version I've ever heard. The recording captures the room's sound and the band's incredible energy. My God, I miss this man!!! The vinyl is solid - a treat for the collection. An instant favorite as the band jumps back and forth between Clash classics and the Mescaleros innovative rock.

There is some surface noise on my copy, but it's tolerable, and most importantly, it sounds good. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Furthermore, their debut on Sundazed, cut from the original analogue tapes by Mr, Grey himself is THE BEST MONO REISSUE ROCK RECORD I HAVE EVER HEARD, Happy Hunting If You Can Find A Copy ... Granted, not in step with his usual style but a top shelf collection of songs in my humble opinion. I got into this release after hearing "It's in the Way that You Use It" from the movie, "The Color of Money". After I brought it home, way back in the mid-80's, there were many tracks as good or better. "Run" and the duo with Tina Turner, "Tearing Us Apart" are awesome! My original copy was worn out, so I bought this one as a replacement. As usual, Acoustic Sounds did not disappoint, and the quality was impeccable. Flat, quiet and rich soundstage! I've never been disappointed with anything I've purchased here, and "August" was no exception.

Sounds as good as I had hoped for. The remaster is fantastic. Great wide soundstage. Great top end. Detailed midrange and punchy base. Hearing things you never could on the cd. So excited to to have it in the collection finally.

Great performance but intimate not rushed nor reaching. Now to the recording- this copy is audiophile caliber. Quiet vinyl and clear sound. This vinyl sounded like a top quality high priced recording. All the way around I was pleasantly surprised.

It's a reminder of how well constructed a lot of their songs are. The remastering is excellent, and the surface noise on my copy is minimal. I kept pumping the volume up because that's the way this music wants to be played!! Thumbs up all the way

Posted Wednesday, June 14, 2023 by MSJ Im a huge fan of this album. Sun Ra's blend of avant garde with classic big band is a delight, and on full display here. I've worn out a few CDs and cassettes of this record in various cars, and on this re-issue, all kinds of things are more present than on either of the previous versions. Its a bit noisy, and has lots of interstitial noise between tracks, but you know what, it all really fits this record. If you just sit and enjoy the complex weaving of melodies, counter melodies, and piano parts.. you cant get enough. Do recommend if you're a fan of this record. It sure beats some releases on previous mediums.
