Nice performances, awful sound

Posted Monday, July 16, 2018 by Anonymous For an all-analogue "audiophile" pressing, this album sounds ridiculously bright, shrill and unlistenable. I love Paolo Conte and was excited to get this on LP. A terrible disappointment--I got rid of it immediately.

Very Disappointing

Posted Wednesday, September 14, 2016 by Jerome This was my first purchase from Fone and it will be my last. The problems began from the moment the stylus dropped into the run-in groove. This is a noisy record with lots of pops and clicks. And since most of side one is filled with relatively quiet violin passages this really was insufferable. Equally insufferable was the music itself. In a word it was boring. Slow-paced violin noodling that doesn't really say anything of interest musically is how I would describe side 1. I was so bored to tears and discouraged by the poor quality pressing that I never even made it to side two. I am not familiar with these composers and made my buying decision solely on the video about this release, which I thought sounded interesting and engaging. Maybe that is on side 2. But even if it is, I expected a lot more for the relatively high price of this release.

Posted Wednesday, January 27, 2016 by Anonymous This is my second version of this record, the first one had some residue from the factory on it. This one too has some fine scratches which are audible through multiple clicks and some groove damage. The quality of the record is mediocre, to say the least. The recording is mediocre as well. One can argue about the speed and interpretation of Beethovens Violin Concerto, which is in the eye of the beholder. But not about the sound quality. I don’t like it at all. It has a small soundstage and the sound is somehow muffled. I don’t know what happened here. Fone made some really superb recordings in the past. This is not one of them.

Salvatore Accardo - Vivaldi: The Four Seasons Product No: CFON 065 SA

Stunning sound and (to me) great performance

Posted Tuesday, May 24, 2011 by Muzza I have two different versions of The Four Seasons and now this one. In a less than perfect room and in 2x channel mode I was blown away by the sound. The bite of the bows, the depth of the sound stage, the ambience of the hall, but most of all the recording allowed me to hear for the first time the real interplay between the musicians and their instruments.

I was blown away.
