Excellent Tonearm

4 Stars
Posted Friday, December 15, 2023 by Mike Zay So I have the ClearAudio Performance DC AiR, and whent with the tracer tonearm and it's and very nice piece and adds better detail with the right cartridge, which I have the Clear Audio Charisma and sounds amazing! I gave it 4 out of 5 stars only because it's the tonearm wire are very thin! And when I received it one of the prongs was disconnected. Luckily I have a friend that knows how to solder and he fixed it. Just be aware that these are very delicate tonearms and I only mentioned that that this is my second one I had to replace from a different company. Still waiting on that one to be fixed, so I had to shall out more money do get this one that comes with the Performance DC AiR if you chose to. I just wish ClearAudio would make the tonearm arm wire thicker because of this issue.

Ridiculously expensive but it works

4 Stars
Posted Friday, June 23, 2023 by Kevin This has to be one of the most overpriced items I've ever bought. The one gripe I have with my Clearaudio Concept MC TT is the lack of a dustcover. So, if you have one, this is the easiest solution. It's far from elegant and pretty awkward to put it on and off and put it somewhere when you're playing a record. It's just a really expensive piece of plastic. At least they put openings for the cables. I removed a star just for the ludicrous price.

Klipsch - Forte III Distressed Product No: K FORTEIII C

Fortissimo!

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, September 30, 2017 by Frédéric Forte III are brilliant speakers. They are neither harsh nor fatiguing speakers at all but rather detailed and revealing. Soudstage is really deep and air is around all instruments. Radiohead sound generally blurred on most loudspeakers. With FIII you understand the intention of the studio mixing and forget the compressed sound of their records. With Charles Dutoit directing Camille St-Saens "danse macabre", the 99 dB/w/m creates a great dynamic range and impact. Dave Brubeck -Take five- is played with a great authority. Melanie Di Biasio vocal is mesmerizing...Kei Koito performing Ciacona in D minor at Pfarrkirche St. Katharina produces sub bass shaking my room. Should I write a con? Ok, just one, Miles Davis trumpet has not the last word on FIII. You could miss the silky texture of more "fat" speakers.

Effortless sound, tames the sharpest sibilance without losing detail

5 Stars
Posted Friday, March 3, 2017 by Bruce K. Effortless sound, tames the sharpest sibilance without losing detail. Somehow, it can read right through surface noise without losing high end extension and detail. With unlimited rebuild-ability and top notch customer service from SoundSmith, you'd be silly not to consider this.

The right choice

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 7, 2016 by LD100 After owning the Kleos SL for over a month, I think I can fairly review it and the result is 5 stars. The Kleos replaced a Lyra Argos I used for a little over ten years mounted in a Linn Ekos tonearm. The Kleos is everything the Argos was, detailed and neutral, but to a much greater extent. An extended low end is also apparent. The only caveat that I can think of is that the SL seems to be sensitive to 60 cycle hum so proper cable management is required. I would make this purchase again without hesitation and highly recommend this cartridge to my friends, although once they hear it no recommendation is necessary.

A must to get max out of you amp

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 18, 2013 by TJN First of all it`s always a pleasure and joy unpacking a Symposium product, this is high quality products!

Some weeks ago I recived this platform as an ampstand version, this include the Terminator cone feets with tellurium copper reversible spikes. I have a 140 lbs. amp on it and have testet different options regarding placement; spikes in couplers on a thin carpet, spikes through the thin carpet and into the concrete floor, couplers or rollerblocks between amp and the platform. The best result by far is the spikes into the concrete floor and the rolleblocks between amp and platform. The sound improvement is very clear; the first you hear is the improvement of the soundstage, it`s clearly bigger and deeper, the 3D is superb!, the background is darker. Bass is deep and thight, check out the bass on those AP Prestige records! You won`t belive it! A wonderful and airy treble and the midrange is now as natural as you want it. Highly recomended!

A significant difference - recommended

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 19, 2012 by Clive I purchased this item from Acustic Sounds after checking the manufactures website and reading customer reviews. Given the price tag and no UK dealers I was a little sceptical. However, after reading the instructions and placing the unit under my Meridian 800 unit I sat back and waited. The results were stunning and as described. The bass extension via the Meridian 8K's was about an octave more. The bass was very clear, even during complex passages. The treble was natural and the sound stage was more precise but musical. Importantly no colouration of the music from the unit was noticed. Even with high end equipment this product resulted in obvious desirable improvements that added to the musical enjoyment. A good investment for those who want to enjoy their music as close as possible to the real thing.

not just an upgrade from the v1

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, December 6, 2011 by Yogi Boo Bear having upgraded from a concerto to a Strad v1 and then a v2 (both due to third party TT cleaning negligence) , be clear this is not just a slight upgrade. on my system the upgrade is SIGNIFICANT. it is very hard to quantify, and i cannot but it I would probably pay at least 50% more for the v2 over the v1. So please try it out.

Superb sound and stage.

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, January 24, 2010 by Arturo Castaneda I'm a technosaurus, I have sticking to Shure V-15 cartrigdges for many, many years. The Aida replaced a V15xMR, one of the last produced, which is still in perfect condition. However, it was time to move over and get a new one. I was considering a Sumiko Blackbird before I read the raving review about the Soundsmith MMC1 in Stereophile. The Aida is a hand picked MMC1 and encased in ebony for better sound. Well, everything I read about it is true! The sound and clarity of this cartridge is astonishing and best of all: no MC pre-amp. I've been listening to some of my favorite albums ranging from Rock to Classical and I can't believe the detail and cleanliness of the sound. CCR's Cosmo's Factory comes alive, Santana Abraxas is a new experience, Peggy Lee was singing Black Coffee in the room, The Vienna Philharmonic came to play at my home and then The London Philharmonic! Awsome! BUY ONE, I doubt you can do better, you will love it!

Makes switching cartridges easy

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, March 18, 2009 by J.C. Having two armtubes for my Super Scoutmaster allows me to swap from a moving magnet cartridge to a moving coil with no fuss, no muss. Just lift the armtube off of its unipivot point and unplug the connector and swap armtubes. Allows you to use a cheaper moving magnet or high output mc for your everyday records while you can use the expensive low output mc for you heavy vinyl or virgin vinyl records. Thanks, VPI, for such a great design!

Superb accessory for turntable

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, January 24, 2009 by Tom I purchased the Cloud 11 because my turntable motor was making a low level humming sound (physical vibration - not ground noise). I had tried sorbothane but it didn't help at all.

I was thrilled that after installing the table on top of the Cloud 11, there is absolutely no detectable vibration noise!

If you plan to invest several thousand dollars into a turntable as I did, you're foolish not to include the Cloud platform.

Use only if advanced options are used.

3 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 3, 2008 by Anonymous Cutouts are provided for the VPI tonearms and advanced pully motor. I am using the standard drive motor that is supplied along with the Aries 2 along with a Rega 600 arm resulting a large opening over the standard motor and another over the area where a VPI tonearm in the rear would be. The only problem I have is that I must put clear tape over these openings to stop the dust. This is not Ginkos or VPIs falt. Just be aware.....

Awesome cover, cheapo stick-on rubber feet

4 Stars
Posted Sunday, August 19, 2007 by Anonymous This is an awesome cover, clean lines and well made. It adds significantly to the look of my table when not in use. My one beef is that it comes with cheapo stick-on rubber feed to stick on the corners. While most may not need any kind of foot, my equipment stand has a glass platform and I wanted to avoid scratches. The rubber feet fall right off after a few times of use. I am currently using some stick on cork feet, but I'm sure there are better alternatives. Anyhow, if it weren't for the rubber feet this cover would easily receive my 5 rating.

Make Your Turntable Look Like A Museum Piece!

4 Stars
Posted Wednesday, June 6, 2007 by Peter I am very happy with this Ginko acrylic cover for my VPI Scout turntable.

It was news to me that the era of hinged dust covers ended a long time ago! But there are a few choices on protecting an expensive turntable from dust or little children.

This product is attractive but in my opinion, perhaps due to its size, the result is slightly pretentious. My turntable now looks like it is sitting in a museum case! Well that's ok. So far all my friends are pretty impressed.

This cover fits nicely on top of the table, it has cut-out areas for cables and for hand holds. One must take a certain amount of care to not bump the arm when removing the cover but it's no big deal. I don't think you could try to use this cover while playing a record.

Perhaps a rumor, but I think I heard that there may be a cheaper alternative: there perhaps is a template at some "Tap Plastics" stores (California) where something similar could be made to order.

Ginko Cloud turntable isolation platform

5 Stars
Posted Friday, September 22, 2006 by RG Daerr Setup was easy. Fit and finish is very good. I used it to cure an acoustical feedback problem in my small listening room. Turntable is a VPI Scout. Trying to get good bass from my subwoofers was always a problem in this room. At a decent subwoofer level , rumble and distortion, due to feedback through the rack and turntabletable, was a hinderence to my enjoyment of LP playback. I have the problem totally licked now. My solution was a Target TT wall mount shelf, and the Ginko Cloud 10 for my Scout. I can now relax, turn it up, and drift away in LP bliss. Works great.

Heritage ROCKS

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, November 20, 2005 by Anonymous I have heard this speaker at the Klipsch engineering lab in Hope Arkansas. Being an owner of both home and industrial versions of the earlier LaScala speakers I was already a fan.

Klipsch has upped the ante this time, with heavy 1" MDF in the bass bin to tame cabinet vibrations and help propel low bass notes forward. Horn is the venerable 400 Hz cutoff for a very musical soundstage and the K77 tweeter is also upgraded as is the crossover network. This is a monster speaker with 104 db/watt efficiency rating and very capable of handling peaks of 200 watts. Fantastic sound for critical stereo listening or Home Theatre useage.

The furniture grade cabinet, previously available only in unfinished birch, black or industrial varieties, has been given a beautiful real wood veneer treatment for placement in the home environment. For easy movement, the top section is removable, and the LS sports a new riser base.

Well done Klipsch!

Passed the wife test

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, January 26, 2005 by Anonymous My wife is the best test for new audio gear. The minute I installed this she said "Wow". It's surprising even on my Musical Fidelity 3.2 Pre/Amp with huge power chokes that such a dramatic difference can be heard. Black is now black (in listening, I have no idea about video) the highs crisp and it sounds like a bit tighter bass.
