The ultimate Doors collectible: A limited-edition, seven-LP box – covered in faux lizard skin – with 12" 180-gram HQ vinyl reissues of the original stereo mixes of the band's six Morrison-era studio albums PLUS a copy of their '67 debut album in mono! All remastered by Bernie Grundman! And pressed at RTI! The entire set has been personally supervised by Jac Holzman, founder of Elektra Records and production supervisor of The Doors, and Bruce Botnick, The Doors' engineer/co-producer/mixer for all six studio albums. All albums are exact replicas of the original releases, including all artwork, packaging, inner sleeves and mixes.

The Doors' revolutionary self-titled 1967 debut LP – widely regarded as one of rock music's most important debuts – instantly heralded the arrival of an utterly original, and now all-time legendary, band. Break on through to the audio side

Received my box set last week and have listened to 3 of the albums so far. Overall the audio is brilliant but there 1 or 2 bright spots. Their debut album had the track listings on the opposite sides of the album but that has happened before.

The box itself is a gorgeous looking collectible and sturdy as hell. The albums were also removed from their sleeves to avoid damage in transit. A genius yet common sense approach. Audioacoutics also packed it firmly with an inner and outer box arriving in Australia, without damage.

I can't add very much except to look at my title. One thing about cracks and pops in general is to clean all LP's, even new ones. Also a friend got me using Stylast and with cleaning records, it almost eliminates the pops/cracks. This goes even for A+ equipment. Mine isn't the best but it sounds pretty good (Clearaudio Concept and Micro Benz Wood).

This is a must for all you Doors fans out there. You can listen to these albums while chilling with friends, or throw on your headphones for intense listening. What a great band this was. The lyrics and the sixties sounds with keyboards is awesome.

I can attest to a lot of the similar reports of high surface noise with this boxset. There were MANY issues with this box, even after it was released. These really weren't made public unless you frequent the Doors message board. The Mono vesion of the first album had it's artwork printed incorrectly, and there were many other artwork issues that were not true to the originals. Doors management admitted problems with the pressings at RTI and offered everyone replacement vinyl and reprinted sleeves to correct the problems. To date, I have received all replacement vinyl and they sound MUCH better than what originally came in the box. We even got a 45RPM version of Light my Fire for our troubles. Special thanks goes out to Jeff Jampool and Mac Dunlop for overseeing the corrections. Finally, after two years I have a complete and excellent sounding box set. I pre ordered three years ago and each is numbered below 150!

We have a sota audio system in the observatory and listening to these pressings while gazing into space is quite an experience. Of course we were rather spaced when we listened to the first editions, weren't we?! Took a trip without leavin' the farm. Right up there with the Beatles MOFI box. Worth evry nickel. Any serious collectors must have.

i just got this week..i have a rega 25 turntable with a benz pickup.. the sound on the records are perfect very clear sound and sharp sound.the vinyl is very quiet between the tracks..acoutic sound is a perfect store.. they open up and checked the records,on my request. before sending it to norway.. so you can gladly buy it..the originals does not sound so good as this set..

I waited over a year for this set after pre-order. It is average at best as far as sound quality. Vinyl is noisy throughout. A LOT of surface 'crackle' and pop. Inexcusable for the price. Audio quality varies from disc to disc but is a bit veiled overall and then harsh on some tracks!!?? By the way, I use a table and system that is in solid Class B (VPI/Benz)! By the middle of the set at about Waiting For The Sun, it gets slightly better. But the vinyl is still way too noisy during soft passages and between tracks. That factor is consistent from disc to disc. As with another review here, surface noise on high end 180g vinyl should not be this prevalent. Great packaging, with below average album cover graphic reproduction. An average conventional vinyl product at a premium price. Not worth the money in my opinion.

I almost gave up on this, what with the endless dalays, but am I glad I didn't. The packaging is first rate, right down to the original Electra labels and various inserts. The sound is great. Unlike the first reviewer, I didn't notice any surface noise (I have a B&O 5000 system). "The Doors" doesn't sound great, but it's certainly an improvement over the original LP. "Strange Days", "Waiting for the Sun" and "The Soft Parade" have never sounded better. The clarity and openness are just stunning. I haven't gotten to the last albums yet, but I can't imagine that I'll be disappointed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Like reliving the time all over again.

This is definitely worth every penny and definitely worth the 1 year wait since I pre-ordered it. With the exception of the 1st album, all of the albums sound magnificent. The 1st album was poorly recorded in the first place, so it seems no matter what they do to it, it'll always sound mediocre. I've never had any of the albums on vinyl before, so I can only compare with the CD's. Way better is all I can say. I'd even go so far as to say that these recordings sound as good or better than many modern day rock records. The packaging is first rate too.
