Classic reissued on vinyl with "It Could Have Been a Brilliant Career" obi strip!

As Scottish indie-pop legends Belle and Sebastian finish work on their ninth studio album (recorded in Atlanta with Ben H. Allen for worldwide release via Matador Records), Matador is excited to announce that the group's vinyl catalogue - currently out of print - will be back in print for a limited time.

The "It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career" series is an opportunity to revisit the band's treasured output and unique, consistent aesthetic, as well as an opportunity for fans to complete their collections and enjoy the music via the warmth of vinyl.

Titles include all the band's full-length studio albums and compilations (save for the Storytelling soundtrack, which was never released on vinyl in the U.S.).

If You're Feeling Sinister was released to much critical praise in 1996. Band leader Stuart Murdoch has stated in interviews that this is probably his best collection of songs.

If You're Feeling Sinister has received wide acclaim. Pitchfork Media placed the album at No. 14 in its top 100 albums of the 1990s. Later, the readers of Pitchfork named the album as the 31st greatest album since the website launched in 1996. Rolling Stone featured the album at No. 75 on its list of "100 Best Albums of the Nineties," while Spin included the record at No. 59 on its "125 Best Albums of the Past 25 Years" list. If You're Feeling Sinister also appears as an entry in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die as chosen by music critics.

This Matador label release comes in a resealable mylar bag with "It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career" obi strip.

"Whimsy and preciousness is an integral part of If You're Feeling Sinister, along with clever wit and gentle, intricate arrangements - a wonderful blend of The Smiths and Simon & Garfunkel, to be reductive...Sinister plays like a great forgotten album, couched in '80s indie, '90s attitude, and '60s folk-pop. It's beautifully out of time, and even if other Belle & Sebastian albums sound like it, this is where they achieved a sense of grace." — AllMusic
