"They hid their shattered romanticism and snide digs at the trite nightlife inside the boldest grooves of the era." — Spin
Chic made two great albums, yet the reviewers side with this one over C'est Chic. Chic represented the pinnacle of late '70s disco music, with a brand of slick soul that was made for the dance floor. Nile Rodgers and the late Bernard Edwards were the Babyfaces of their day. Their compositions, record production and sparing musicianship (guitar and bass, respectively) made Chic such a classy unit. Hard to imagine listening to this in a normal home environment as the fantasy of white suits and exotic cocktails is just too much to bear.
Risque, a 7-song funk and dance masterpiece, was the group's platinum plus third album. Anchored by the Bernard Edwards/Nile Rodgers penned No. 1 cut "Good Times," it also featured dance, soul and pop charting hits like "My Forbidden Lover" and "My Feet Keep Dancing." Risque's presence was felt on every music scene and remains one of the best-selling albums in Chic's hit-making career. Recorded at The Power Station and Electric Lady, New York, New York.
