The Blue Note Tone Poet Series was born out of Blue Note President Don Was' admiration for the exceptional audiophile Blue Note LP reissues presented by Music Matters. Was brought Joe Harley (from Music Matters), a.k.a. the "Tone Poet," on board to curate and supervise a series of reissues from the Blue Note family of labels.

Three giants of West Coast Jazz came together in this deeply swinging session recorded for the Pacific Jazz/World Pacific label in 1953. Alto saxophone master Lee Konitz joins with the great Gerry Mulligan on baritone saxophone and legendary trumpeter Chet Baker on a half-live, half-studio program of standards along with one Mulligan original. The group is supported by bassists Carson Smith and Joe Mondragon with Larry Bunker on drums for this spontaneous and inventive jazz treasure.

can't beat the price on this record posted on 05/15/2023 5 Stars Reviewer: Noel I purchased this for 5 bucks. The price is so low that I had to buy a copy for my dad too. This is a regular tone poet record. Flat and sounds great. The music is fantastic. Get it while its cheap.

Sounds Great posted on 05/05/2023 5 Stars I purchased this for practically free. Not sure why the price was so low. Maybe someone never heard a mono recording before? Instruments are right on top of each other, but the pressing, sound and performances are excellent.

Unbelievable price? posted on 04/08/2023 5 Stars Reviewer: ELubow This is a great sounding disc- I have it at the regular price. I can’t understand why Acoustic Sounds is pricing it so low. It’s not defective or they would have said so. Even lps with bent covers are priced higher. Anyone with a theory?
