7th Year of Pink Vinyl Initiative for Gilda's Club NYC and cancer research
As "the show must go on" so must long-standing acts of kindness. It is no different for Gilda's Club NYC, who, despite the 2020 global pandemic due to Covid-19, is managing to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a nonprofit working in support of those fighting cancer.
In partnership with independent music distributor The Orchard, Ten Bands reissues select albums on limited edition pink vinyl, all for one cause — Gilda's Club NYC, an organization that provides community support for both those diagnosed with cancer and their caretakers. It is named after Saturday Night Live comedian Gilda Radner, who passed away from cancer at the age of 43 in 1989.
Since 2014, this partnership has raised significant funds for cancer patients and their families thanks to the generous participation of nearly 70 music artists which include Third Eye Blind, Amanda Palmer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ed Sheeran, Metallica and many more. 2020 marks the program's 7th year championing Gilda's Club NYC's good work with a modified "special edition" with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic with 4 (not 10) fantastic titles by much-loved artists, including, Fitz and the Tantrums, Pickin' Up The Pieces 10th Anniversary (Dangerbird), Brian Fallon Local Honey (Lesser Known Records), Twin Peaks' Side A, (Grand Jury) and Chiodos' All's Well That Ends Well 15th Anniversary, (Equal Vision), each to be released on 12" pink vinyl packages.
The releases will be available for purchase at retailers nationwide wherever vinyl is sold, and proceeds will sponsor Gilda's Club NYC.
These bands and their record labels will be messaging out to their fans and potential customers the opportunity to support this great cause. These are the same full-length albums, made available on pink vinyl for the first time. All will feature different variants of pink vinyl and all will have the Ten Bands One Cause marketing sticker attached.
In response to the coronavirus outbreak, Gilda's Club has transitioned their in-person cancer support program to a virtual program to continue to provide free services to cancer patients who are among the most vulnerable populations of this pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic is a threat to the cancer community GCNYC serves.
Says Gilda's Club NYC CEO, Lily Safani, "Over the past years, Gilda's Club NYC has been the proud beneficiary of The Orchard's special cancer promotion called Ten Bands One Cause which has raised over $250,000 for our free cancer support program for cancer patients and their families."
