The Blue Note Tone Poet Series was born out of Blue Note President Don Was' admiration for the exceptional audiophile Blue Note LP reissues presented by Music Matters. Was brought Joe Harley (from Music Matters), a.k.a. the "Tone Poet," on board to curate and supervise a series of reissues from the Blue Note family of labels.
Joe Henderson (tenor sax), Ron Carter (bass) and Al Foster (drums) captured live during their 1985 peak at NYC's historic Village Vanguard. Blue Notes Records founder Alfred Lion said upon hearing the sessions: "...truly a classic album. What Joe plays is unbelievable. This is one of the most important albums that I've ever heard. It is one of the best made on Blue Note." The Blue Note Tone Poet Series features all-analog, remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.
