Kevin Ayers — Bananamour
Newly remastered vinyl release of the classic 1973 album
Features Robert Wyatt, Steve Hillage and Mike Ratledge
Remastered from the original master tapes, cut at Abbey Road Studios
A founding member of Soft Machine, Kevin Ayers embarked on a solo career in 1969, signing to EMI's Harvest label, for whom he would record a series of wonderful and stylistically eclectic albums. Banamour was Kevin's final album for Harvest during his first tenure with the label and the sessions were undertaken with a band featuring Archie Legget (bass, vocals) and Eddie Sparrow (drums), alongside Kevin.
Bananamour also featured guest contributions from Robert Wyatt, Steve Hillage and Mike Ratledge.
Featuring such classic tracks as "Decadence" (an ode to Nico),"Oh! Wot a Dream" (an affectionate tribute to Syd Barrett), "Interview" and "Shouting in a Bucket Blues," the album is regarded as one of Kevin Ayers' best works.
1. Don't Let It Get You Down | 2. Shouting in a Bucket Blues | 3. When Your Parents Go to Sleep | 4. Interview | 5. Internotional Anthem | 6. Decadence | 7. Oh! Wot a Dream | 8. Hymn | 9. Beware of the Dog |
