Taken from concerts of the renowned "Austin City Limits" PBS TV series. Waylon Jennings never took much to the Outlaw label, although he looked and acted every bit the part. But his insistence on artistic control, recording with his own band, and writing or choosing his own songs blazed a trail for many younger artists to follow. When Hoss hit the stage with The Waylors, it might as well have been midnight in a Texas roadhouse for all anybody could tell. This release is taken from Waylon's April 1989 visist to the Austin City Limits stages.

"This 1989 taping finds Waylon Jennings in fine form and particularly feisty spirits, from his playful jabs at hometown hero Willie Nelson through a definitive, go-for-the-throat rendition of Rodney Crowell's anthem 'I Ain't Living Long Like This.' In addition to a litany of his 'outlaw' hits from a decade or more earlier, he teams with wife Jessi Colter for duets on Elvis Presley's 'Suspicious Minds' and 'Honky Tonk Angels' (the classic recorded by Hank Thompson as "The Wild Side of Life"). His cover of 'Me and Bobby McGee' seems to draw inspiration from both Kris Kristofferson's original and Janis Joplin's hit. The crowd embraces the native Texan as a conquering hero." — Amazon.com
