Part of the Ten Bands One Cause Breast Cancer Awareness promotion
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2018, 10 titles reissued on pink vinyl!
Ten Bands reissue their albums on limited edition pink vinyl, all for one cause. This is the fifth year for the initiative that has raised more than $200,000 for Gilda's Club NYC, an organization that provides community support for both those diagnosed with cancer and their caretakers. It is named after Saturday Night Live comedian Gilda Radner, who passed away from cancer at the age of 43 in 1989.
This year's limited pink vinyl are from Silversun Pickups, Modest Mouse, Local Natives, Black Moth Super Rainbow, EL-P, Tyler Childers, Soccer Mommy, Daryl Hall & John Oates, The All-American Rejects and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack.. The releases will be available for purchase at retailers nationwide wherever vinyl is sold, and proceeds will sponsor Gilda's Club NYC.
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women during their lives and is the second-leading cancer killer of women in the U.S.; men are also vulnerable to the disease.
These bands and their record labels will be messaging out to their fans and potential customers the opportunity to support this great cause. These are the same full-length albums, made available on pink vinyl for the first time. All will feature different variants of pink vinyl and all will have the Ten Bands One Cause marketing sticker attached.
Back in the mid-70s when "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" was a midnight staple at countless movie theaters, Tim Curry wasn't yet "Tim Curry" and Susan Sarandon wasn't yet "Susan Sarandon" (hell, Barry Bostwick wasn't even "Barry Bostwick!").
Listening to the 16 songs from the original camp hit movie soundtrack will take you back through a time warp to the days when the now-Academy Award-winning actress was perfectly willing to stand around for most of a picture in her bra and panties — and so would her boyfriend! In those days, they were just Brad and Janet, forced to spend a dark and stormy (also sexy) night in the haunted house of mad scientist Frank N. Furter — just a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania, ha-ha, who really knew how to belt out a song. Those were the days.
