"This is one profoundly natural-sounding presentation of an acoustic jazz quartet. New York Reunion is the finest album in years by both Tyner and Henderson, and it's Chesky's most important work to date." — CD Review

Hard bop stylist McCoy Tyner can play anything from hard bop to avante garde to standards. He's a seminal figure in the development of modern jazz.

I'm surprised the included review here doesn't mention the other players: Joe Henderson, Ron Carter, and Al Foster. Their rendition of "Recorda-Me" was originally recorded on Henderson's debut 1963 Page One Blue Note LP. It was written by Joe in 1955 when he was just out of school, and is refreshed and modernized here while staying true to the original which has become a jazz standard.

Chesky does a great job on the production of the special edition pressing. The sound is very involving and natural as they used minimalist recording techniques, Cardas cables, and tubed Manley (VTL) electronics. Excellent and enjoyable.
