Rush's 2112 has been newly-remastered at legendary Abbey Road Studios using the Direct to Metal Mastering (DMM) audiophile copper plating process, all from original analogue masters.

This special edition vinyl projects a hologram of the iconic album art when played.

Rush's fourth album, 2112, first released in 1976, proved a breakthrough, highlighted by its seven-part title suite — written by Lee and Lifeson, with lyrics by Peart — recounting a dystopian story set in the year 2112. It came in at No. 2 on Rolling Stone's list of "Your Favorite Prog Rock Albums of All Time." Most Rush fans consider it the band's definitive recording and it has sold more than 3 million albums in the U.S., going triple-platinum.

This is a fantastic version of a fantastic record. Love the Hologram thing going on here. I bought the original record after hearing it at a friends house just after it came out. I use to crank it with headphones on using my first stereo system which consisted of a Marantz 1060 and a Pioneer turntable. I did get to see RUSH live a few times, the first time being in May of 1977 with the amazing Max Webster opening. Also bought Caress Of Steel and Moving Pictures, Fly By Night from AS.

It’s there. I didn’t think it was at first either, but it is. I don’t have a turntable with a little light in the corner. If you don’t either you probably have to do what I did… shine a little flashlight at the correct angle and you’ll see it. Other than that the album sounds great!

But, the record sounds amazing. Quiet and faultless. Deep black backgrounds, letting the music hit you where it counts. I have to say, as well, that both sides sound equally impressive. Excellent separation, all three musicians and their instruments coming through clearly and succinctly. Good production, too, as the additional studio tracks don't muddy up the primary focus of hearing Lifeson's guitars, Lee's bass, and Peart's superlative drumming. Worth every penny for a Rush fan. And if you're starting out as a vinyl lover, this is about as good as it gets for 70s hard rock. Buy it. I'd have to suggest Deep Purple's Machine Head, too. Possessing both would not be a bad start.

Where's the hologram?

I love this album and I was under the impression that it was a holographic vinyl etching, but when I played the album I saw no holographic image. Am I doing something wrong? And does anyone have any answers why it's not showing up?

Side one of this remaster is superb sounding, best I have heard this best side of music ever recorded! Side 2, unfortunately, suffers the same as my original Mercury, there is a midrange veil over all the songs, apparently, that is on the master tape.

Another excellent job by qrp

This is an outstanding remaster and pressing of this classic.I spent a number of years buying and collecting original pressings of this album to obtain my own Hot Stamper, but this new one beats mine in all respects and is dead quiet as well.I'm not going to use any of the overused audiophile terms, the sound will simply fly out of your speakers and you will get a sense of the recording space like you have never heard before.Thank You for this.
