The divertimento as a musical genre dates back to the nineteenth century. Divertimenti were composed for various social occasions and were intended to be light, uncomplicated and cheerful. Such pieces were often scored for small string ensemble. Over the years this effortless, elegant form has appeared in many different musical styles and, to a large extent, set the standard for the virtuosic concert chamber music we know today. A number of the most prominent composers of our age have engaged with this most fascinating ensemble style and have contributed to its further refinement as a chamber-symphonic showpiece.

Wow, just got this disc last week and my wife and I were blown away.

First off, the sound quality is simply amazing... with 192/24-bit res on top of already lossless formats, that's what you would expect- and that's exactly what you get. What was also a surprise was the dynamic range on this disc... I had the volume set at a decent level, and once the first track started I realized this was something special- truly a sonic place I had never quite been to before (and I have a decent library of hi-res SACD and 96/24 titles to appreciate hi-res). And the musical pieces themselves are (I think) very nice... would really like to see more hi-res music titles like this hit the market.

Bottom line: If you want a Blu-ray disc that can eval or demo your system (or any system)- regardless of the money you spent on it, or plan on spending- then this disc is for you.
