After a slew of albums that had built Led Zeppelin into the biggest rock band in the world, there was a frenzied anticipation for 1975's Physical Graffiti. Masters Page, Jones, Bonham and Plant did not disappoint. This two-disc LP set is a sprawling and adventurous effort, again propelling the band farther from its four-beat blues and roots to a progressing rock unit. Dabbling in middle-eastern rhythms, folk styling and their signature heavy blues rock riffs, the result pushes Graffiti to the upper echelon of the double albums that were prevalent (and usually indulgent) of all major rock acts in the 70s.

Highlights include concert favorites, “Kashmir,” “Custard Pie,” “Houses of the Holy,” “The Rover” plus “In My Time of Dying,” “Trampled Underfoot,” “In The Light,” “Bron-Yr-Aur,” “Down by the Seaside,” “Ten Years Gone,” “Night Flight,” “Wanton Song,” “Boogie With Stu,” “Black Country Woman” and “Sick Again.” Mastered under the direct supervision and approval of Jimmy Page. The packaging also features the unique, original die-cut LP jacket. 2 LP Set

Led Zeppelin on 200 gram vinyl is a beautiful thing. The music sounds awesome, If you are a Zeppelin fan you must have this, in fact get them all. I plan to.

Somewhat Disappointing posted on 03/01/2006

I love Led Zeppelin as much as any other right-thinking individual, but as an audio experience I found this 200 gram pressing to be a bit of a disappointment. Does it sound better than the CD? Yes. Does it sound as good as most other 200 gram (or 180 gram, for that matter) LP's? Not by a long shot. You know how CDs sound like the music is "boxed in" and can't escape? This LP leaves the same impression - lacks the "openness" I usually expect from good vinyl. Maybe it was just the way it was originally recorded in the studio.

Ok so the poor sound of CD is not a surprize to analogue fans, in fact I dumped all my cds even the remasters(after ripping into I-tunes) with exception of some amazing LZ boots. I have listened to this version 2x since purchase and have loved it more each time. This version is quiet and has tons of PRAT. the beauty of vinyl is how much more the music engages the listener. For all LZ fans that love the 75 era you will not be disappointed.

My pressing was quiet and flat. Excellent midtones. Excellent attention to detail from Classic. I enjoyed this as much as my original, but my speakers are 100 times better now than they were back then. I only hope that Classic will do one more pressing of "In thru the Outdoor" and "The song remains the same"

Killer surface noise - what a pity posted on 06/25/2008

I played only one track to completion on pressing I got. I have to say I'm very disappointed. The surface noise on this LP (and to a slightly lesser extent the Led Zeppelin III which I ordered at the same time) is by a long way the worst I have ever heard on a new LP. I don't have an album in my collection that is noisier than this - and most of my albums are ~ 30y.o.!

Everything else is fine. The records are flat and I can tell they are dynamic and distortion free.

Background. I have Aussie and West German pressings of this album as well as CD. Playback hardware is Linn Sondek LP12, Linn Basik LVX+ tonearm and Decca London Gold cartridge w/Garrot Brothers stylus.
