Gold: Greatest Hits is a compilation album of recordings by Swedish pop group ABBA. Prior to its release, all previously released ABBA compilations had been deleted and only the original studio albums (along with the 1986 live album) remained in print.

The album topped the U.K. Albums Chart on five separate occasions, 16 years apart, first in 1992, then three times in 1999, and then again in 2008. As a result, Gold: Greatest Hits is one of the best-selling and is the longest-charting album released in the United Kingdom, currently (May 2014) totalling 469 weeks on the album top 75 (948 weeks in the top 200). With sales in excess of 28 million copies, it is the best-selling ABBA album as well as one of the best-selling albums worldwide.

When I dropped the needle (lowered gently) on track 1 side 3, (first on I played) I went and got the wife to listen. Angels singing the girls voices just reach out into the room, in a beautiful soundstage way not a harsh up front way. Rega Planar 2 Nagaoka MP-110 Schiit Mani into Elac B6.2 so a good system but not Uber high fidelity, still this pressing sounds amazing. Very glad I bought this album, and this pressing.

As I have all the originals Swedish press, this compilation miss that last ounce of dynamics, clarity and fat multilayered sound that Abba was famous for. It doesn't say on the cover if it is from org analogue tapes or a digital master I tend to believe this is from digital source as the recording display a bit greyish, flat and a quieter background typical for digital master, but I might just be wrong. As a compilation it is great just wish the SQ was better

The sound quality is wonderful on this album. Everything is completely sharp and in-focus. All the voices are easy to understand, and the vinyl itself is pretty dead quiet. The songs all sound very pristine as if they were just recorded. The only thing I might fuss about, and it's only because I'm a huge vinyl fan, is that everything is somewhat right in the middle - like a beefed-up mono recording. While the music is crystal clear, the entire sound stage adamantly stays between the speakers, never filling the room in three-dimensionality or width. Since I've never heard ABBA sound three-dimensional before, I'm guessing that this is just how the recording was done.

As for the album, it has all the greatest hits, I believe. At least for me, there are no songs that I'm missing. I'm not a giant ABBA fan, but I do enjoy their songs from time to time.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.
